What a beautiful lovely day.
I think a lot yesterday night while trying to fall asleep. I was thinking about my future in podiatry. Should I pursue my interest (diabetes/pedal ulceration) and start to write a CV to the hospital? In fact, I wanted to do that very much. However, as far as to my understanding, the hospitals here usually employs "senior" pods.(means they have 2 years or more experience). Vice versa, I would say I have dealt with countless of diabetes wounds, surgical wounds, removal of drainage since my days as a nursing students. From my point of view, hospital is the best place to start for learning and gaining as much experiences as I could. Maybe I should give it a go. Who cares if they fail on me...at least I've tried....

Yippee! I'm finally got registered and now I work legally as a Podiatrist.AH HEM* I stayed at home yesterday "nursing" my sore neck and shoulders (like putting hot pack up to 6 times a day) Today I feel so much better, less sore at least. When I put myself on the heat pack for the 6th time....I kept thinking why these aches and soreness keep buggering me?? And I never felt so depressed and frustrated...On the other hand, I felt better when i began to think of people who are far off worse than me, stricken with horrible diseases or illnesses.

Anyway, did my grocery this morning so that i can avoid the crowds at the supermarket tomorrow. Caught a movie called LOVE ACTUALLY. Rate: 7.5/10 One particular scene showed an actor and actress who are supposed to be sex partners in a 'porn' movie. Engaging in a sex role wasn't that easy for them.In fact, being a professional actor, he demonstrated his concern for his colleague and provide assurance in order for the acting to proceed smoothly. To cut the story short, it was a happy ending for both of them.
One thing I've learnt from here is sex is not everything. Some may think it is a need but it is what THEY THINK is a need. Love is not made up of sex. There is soo many 'ingredients' in a love. Obviously, 2 important factors would be the committents and efforts between partners . With the basic building block of trust, it is then the couple may proceeds to the intimacy level.
Suffering from mental block at the moment.....will write more tomorrow.

Merry Christmas to all and myself.
Just came back from an invitation of BBQ organised by my ex-paitent and his wife. The food was fantastic with Barbi lamb, bacon mashed potatoes, crayfish salad, grilled hotdogs and lovely cupcakes for sweets. Sheesh* hide that tummy!
This also gave me the opportunity to meet his other family members and even though i feel a little weird at times coz i don't really know anyone there.
So, i tell myself to be cool and things will be fine.

It's 2 am now....i reckon I'll sleep like a log tomorrow or pig *onik*
Guess tomorrow's program will include change of vaccum bag, making jelly, and probably go for an evening jog (rather not die in the midist of soaring heat weather).

Friday I'll be watching the Lord of the ring! Whee! tickets are booked. Gonna watch with Annathrax.

Received from a SMS from my favourite g.fs in singapore. They are having a whale of good time in Zouk club. Wish i was there...perhaps it will not be soo bored here after all.

I must admit I have been slacking a little on my blog. :P
So I have passed my final exams and right now, just waiting to get registered to the podiatry before applying for a service provider number with health insurance commission.
Current plans:
1) Awaiting for my Permanent Residency response.Wish they can process that faster.DUH*
2) Doing my 2nd degree in Nursing conversion program which will start in March 04.
This allows the diploma holders to convert into nursing degrees within 1 semester of studying. So why not?
3) Went for a job interviewed in this private practice in West Perth. The boss will be away for a holi i guess and he needs a locum to be there. Details are yet to be finalised until i get my registration done.

Other than that, spending most of my time reading pod stuffs, hanging around at the malls to avoid the drastic heat weather, going to beach, Go karting for charity last Sun, and last but not least, selling stuffs on e-bay.

And also, I've been saving every $2 gold coin i have for my digital camera.
Hope Santa is reading this blog.........

Summary of my Melbourne trip:
Finally I got to meet my so=called virtual pal, VN. Initally, I was rather worried about the awkardness as i'll be staying at her place too. Nevertheless, I had a great time in Melbourne and we chatted heaps like old pals till wee hours in the morning. Her mom is a great cook too. Then again, not sure when will be able to meet again coz she'll be working as a dentist in Mt Isa, Queensland. I can't stop thinking how cute her dog , Baci (a jack russell) is.

Day 1 and 2:
Suffered from headaches +neck stiffness which almost "killed" me.So I put myself on panadol and felt better after that.
Took trams in the city. Walk around a far bit since her apartment is in the city itself. Went to Bridge Road where all the factory outlets are and bought a Witchery top for 10 buck with original price slashed from $139. And followed by 2 more tops from Esprit outlet for $10 each.

Day 3 and 4:
Went to Chinatown and city again. Brought Baton West around the city and take pictures.BatonWest orignates from this website (www.virtualtourist.com) and it supposed to travel west and passed it on to other travellers who are members of this website. It was good fun ..heh..
Went to Queen Victoria market. Suppose to close at 5pm (i think) but the shops start to pack up for closure 2 hours in advance! NOt happy shopper! Wanted to get this pair of sandals but the man refused to give me a discount so in the end never get anything.

Day 5: Went to High Point Shopping Mall.It has everything under one roof. But we didn't get to stay for long and so, went back to City again.bought a surfer shorts for $7 bucks. Can't imagine the store in Perth is still selling the original price!

Day 6: Booked a tour to Great Ocean Road to see 12 apostles and London Bridge.Altogether the tour group consists of 12 girls and 1 male driver. He must be in luck that day. It was a great girlie outing.Met 5 Chinese American girls from Boston, 2 Queenslanders, one from Sydney, One English girl in total. Yakking so much on stuffs like the hollywood news, English serials, latest gossips about Justin Timberlake ...non stop.Gets real noisy towards the end of trip.It was sensational in general. We also exchanged E-mails too :)

Day 7: Went to Bendigo (miners town) with VN for her job interview there. Journey took about 2 hours of train from Melbourne City, The town is certainly a big one to walk around. We took about more than half an hour to reach the hospital (where the interview is).The map itself looks soo..close to the train station.Anyhow, everything was cool at the end. Also had a look at the Bendigo World war museum which is an eye-opener.In fact, i think i can spend the whole hour in the museum looking at the artefacts and reading stories of WWI.
Both of us fell asleep on the train on our way back......zzzz

Day 8: took a few pics with Baci. And get ready to head back to Perth. :D

Yippee! Finally I've reached the end of the road of studying!! WOOHOOOOOOO!!
So right after Osce exam last Wed, the fellow mates and myself got smashed at the pubs and in fact, I've been start drowning myself with alcohol from 3pm all the way till 1am.
Oh no, alcohol makes me feel fat the next day. Then again, it was an all good fun and get pissed session. Mark also had a dinner function room booked at Currie Hall Opposite University of Western Australia. All of us indeed enjoy an excellent feast of barbie food like hotdogs, bake potatoes, casear, greek salad and roast chicken. AMC and CK +his wifey were there too. AMC is actually kinda a "happening" mother. She danced as if no one is watching and went down to the pub and chill out with us.Absolutely fantastic!
We got our Tshirts made!!
The motto is:
POD SQUAD 2003
sounds cool hey...just like the detectives/Foot police.

G, one of my nursing friend, called me up in the arvo. And in the midist of our conversation, i actually revealed that I wanted to continue another semester of degree in Nursing. I hate it when he said it's just a waste of time and he felt that it doesn't make any difference! Freak himself and why did he do that in the first place? Doesn't mean I don't practice anymore I can't go for the degree. Ultimately, I would return to Singapore and plus a nursing degree is sure come in handy. Plus, if the timing is right to study, why not? Then again, who can gurantee that in near future that I don't return to nursing workforce and handling Intravenous tubes to bottles of medications.
I always feel that having a diploma is like 3/4 done towards an award degree and I should continue it.

I think he's probably jealous of me. Tee HEE! :P

Almost forgot that it is my parent's anniversary today.
I mean probably this anniversary would be a very special one where both of them could get together without my brother and myself around at home.
One exam down and one more to go on Wed. And few days later, i'll be going to Melbourne for a week and I;ll be living with Eviltooth's house!! yay* Oh can;t wait to see Baci the little Jack Ruscko..

Last Sunday was my cousin's wedding (on mom's side). In fact, this is such a good opportunity to catch up with fellow cousins from Malaysia as well. Then again, what a waste that I'm in Perth.I mean, I would love to talk and get to know them better. Malaysians cousins seldom comes to singapore unless they really have to...usually bounded by work and studying. The usual gathering happens only during the Chinese new Year. Apparently, mom's 2 elder brothers and their families all sat on the same table during wedding dinner and having fun yakking sessions. Sometimes, there should be more gathering like this! Like my 3rd uncle's family from Malaysia hardly seen the first Uncle's family (singapore) at all......
I do respect family values and cultures. Not saying I'm a mommy's or daddy's girl.
Dad once said:" Even if the whole world has tumbled or fallen onto my head, family is the one who will always be there supporting you.
Obviously, one of the criteria in terms of selection of my future partner (if it exists) must know how to love me and family.

Why Australian Channels doesn't have any NBA or WWF (world wrestling federation) on TV? I'm getting sick looking at footy news, rugby news and perth glory.....geez, it seems that only these games are "alive". Boring *hit.

Too much of foot theory almost got me killed......

Friday, November 07, 2003

Tis good is Friday! And the first paper falls on next Saturday.Wish time could hurry up a little! The learning is still a continous and yet monotonous mode. The weather warms up like a ball of heat which has just attacked your house. And of course, that makes studying more difficult and now I'm having the fan on 24/7.
Not a good time to blog now.....my brains appeared to be a little fried by the studying and weather.
Meanwhile, sagittal facilitation model continues..

Thursday, November 06, 2003

I'm not sure why I always end up updating my blogs during exam period.
Right now, taking a break from reading Root theory....i suppose that is a "sure" question to be out as quoted by CR. CR....definitely a big fan of ROOT and his instincts on foot function is certainly well commendable. I always find it amusing how he told us about urguing his theory with some American podiatrists (look, there is the east and west sides too) and 'should baby be thrown out of bathwater' is still ringing at my ears.
what do i remember at the moment?
STJ 20 deg inversion 10deg eversion
Has 2 axes: transverse 42 degrees; sagittal plane 16 degrees.
Normal ROM of joints should not be painful, crepitus, restricted.
Difference between clonic(jerky)/tonic spasms
Symmetry of range of motion *** this is something which makes me wonder........
Root et al only concluded that there may be variances in the direction of axis of joints or shapes of the bones in the joint.

In CKC, when calc everts, the talar adducts and plantarflexes. The talar moves in presence with internal rotation of tibia.Proximal end of tibia moves forward with knee slightly flexed position....

Next, MTJ........

Poor Quokkas are getting club down by the rangers as stated on the news today. Maybe it is for the benefit of the public and quokka population. However, where is the sense of humanity for these animals? What have they done wrong in the first place and to think that the rangers are looking to euthanise quokkas in a more humane manner via carbon dioxide poisoning???

Neck stiffness is still on the go.Seen the physio yesterday with a student. I reckon that clinical supervisor is soon to be giving up on me. The neck treatment has been constantly ongoing for 2 months. I'm compliance, watch the time I've spend on sitting/studying, using my hot packs, doing exercises. And my cervical and thoracic spines are stiffen like a washboard. That's Not what I said. Seriously, i think my neck needs some vigorous deep massage which was done by another physio last year. Well, gonna make another appointment then...... meanwhile mugging continues...

I'm beginning to enjoy that Tv Show "queer guys for straight guy" on every Monday night. In this show has demostrated how these 5 fantastic gay dudes modified this chosen straight guy with each of their individual qualities like lifestyle, culture, food/wine, fashion and home decor... It is amazing to see the final effect on this straight guy and ultimately improving his "quality of life?" I love that guy who in charge of fashion....."shopping is my cardio".
Definitely this show is better than Ricky Lake or Jerry Springer.

Okay, AMC has e-mailed a list of 30 over conditions to be tested on OSCE.Arrrgghh!gosh* need to buck up!!! the list looked horrific too!

Back to show, can't wait for the Law and Order on Thursday.

Taking a break from studying. My cervical and shoulder stiffness are killing me! Geez, no doubt I have been doing my SELF SNAGS (forgot the actual name of the cervical exercises)faithfully as instructed by the physio plus hot packs 3 times a day.Additionally,i keep watch on the time I've spent sitting on the chair and not exceeding more than 30 mins and my posture.......is so hard to avoid in that Slouch position.
Then again, for the sake of my patients and future career as a pod I must study hard but smart.

Nike says :" Just do it".

Sunday! Lovely day for any outdoor activities. And why am i doing at home hibernating? Oh well, i just need to finish reading my Paeds notes so that will be the objective for today. 17 days more to go before the final paper arrives. Whee!

After exams, there are so much stuffs waiting for me to do.Firstly I want to learn how to do HTML-ing, have to get B to see a podiatrist in the public hospital because he doesn't have any private insurance cover, find a job, sort out my permanent residency, clear the junks in my room, going to beach for power walks and most importantly, dad may be coming for a short travel.

Thanks to Sissy ( my dear med friend)....and now i'm falling in love with this Canon A80 digi cam. Hmmm....that would be nice if I am able to illustrate my own pod dermato atlas someday...something to think about....

Halloween just passed and unlike last year, kids came knocking on my doors for lollies. And in reply, I'll ask trick or treat.
Yesterday was the last day of uni. Oooo what a feeling! So C has arranged a picnic at the uni and it was good almost all the classmates turn up.
Never know where did i get the courage to leave home and come over to Perth to study Podiatry. Prior coming to WA, there are a number of my friends was generally wonder what on earth am i doing another 3 years of studying. Besides, i've already got my nursing qualification and I could simply just go for another year of conversion (from diploma -degree) nursing degree. Learning is an ongoing process and one should never stop in regardless of any ages.
Right now, my main priority is to get over the exams first.
In fact, I would really like to start off to work in public hospitals...diabetes and foot ulcerations are always my favourite topics.

Had my mega research presentation (this took one whole year to complete) yesterday at University of Western Australia. Even though I'm not the arranged speaker from the group, I have the obligation to answer the questions from the audience. And that certainly increased the tension level. Anyway, straight after the presentation, didn't get a chance to mingle with the surgeons and the private practitioners..which is such a waste. Coz' there may be a good job opportunity employment.*lol* J has reserved a table for dinner with my group mates and their partners at Matilda bay. Except me being without the...partner. :<

So, the main highlight of the blog is this bitch supervisor at a clinic.Named her B then.Who cares if her name starts with A. As her general knowledge and skill levels is beyong the level which one can imagine. Due to such factors, i try my best to avoid having her patients or rather, i prefer the other supervisors around. She was nasty enough to write some BAD comments on my evaluation forms. And yet, she wasn't the one assessing me face to face and neither did she reinforce on what areas of improvement that i should focus on.She may sound like one of the Angels with the most beautiful smile and sexy dress sense. Angel in disguise indeed.
Well, this is not gonna take me down by saying that I'm lack of initiative, too laidback or motivation.
She will have her "payback time"....not now..someday...sooner or later.
Anyway, I've feedback to the head of department and surprisingly, there are some issues going around the clinic with other students. So she has reassured me on that.

Who knows, she might find a necrotic toe in her car.

Woohoo! 3 more days to go in the uni and at last! freed from uni life!!!!!!
Then again, the road of chao mugging is full of turmoil and traumatized notes around too. There will be 2 major papers which sum up the 3 years of studying.
This is not the best blog i;m writing now.....will continue later...
feeling a wave of stress coming towards me now.

Spending most of my morning and early afternoon digging out notes from year 1 semester one.I gotta get prepared for my final lap of my study.EEKS!To think that I;ve got one more month to go and stuff everything into my poor little brain.
Getting start to get organized pretty soon.On the other hand, I'm trying to apply for a full time job in Melbourne with good pay and car for personal use. Then again, nothing will be too easy in life.I;m sure the private practice itself will be a busy one. Moreover, it is located in the rural area where the country people drive miles or kilometers just to visit a podiatrist.Well, as long as the patients don't bully me with any ridiculous demands, which I'll be very thankful liao.
I had a wonderful Korean food today!Love de KimChee!Somehow just reminded me of my past trip to Korea.Heehee. I;ll definitely go there again.Food tastes better than the Japanese one.
Yay* the HK bitch has left.....now the house is so peaceful and quiet.Perfect for studying and do whatever i like and be my own boss.Hurhur!
She left her shoes behind though.Nevertheless, i'll wait for a couple of weeks before those shoes are dropped into the donation bin.
