Valentine's Day or Valentine's Denial

My aunt, who works as a florist ,must have took a pity on me that she assumed no one will buy me flowers on Vday.

" Don't worry. Ah Yi gives you 2 roses (like how she prefers to pronouce as 'lo-ses')"

*Accept it with gracious smile

**************************

My beloved ABNN pt who sat on a wheelchair, handed me 2 stalks of red roses.

"heh *nods head*. Just something small for you. Hope you like it."

*My heart almost melted on the spot.

**************************

After we are done with the running, J came up with 2 roses for me and BP.

"Come come, have one each. You girls deserve one of these."

Now my vase is filled with all colours of roses. I"ve never thought I would receive flowers on days like this.
This year's Vday is definitely exceptional.

**************************

I've read about an article by MM's fears Singapore losing our own talented people. I'm not surprised that the figures has been increasing slowly over the past years. I was lucky to get a chance to stay overseas for slightly more than half a decade. Staying in another foreign land allows me to differentiate and appreciate on how the country is being run as compared to Singapore.

If given a choice, I would prefer my family to live in Aust and perhaps, sad to say that I see Singapore as a 'holiday' home. Aust is a huge place where you can chose to relocate to a rural or urban areas subjecting to your preferences. Flexible hours and long maternity leave are possible in almost every jobs. No doubt the taxes can be high but we can be happy with shorter working hours. That also mean we get to spend more time with family or loved ones. Aussies are more accepting and gracious people. Yes, we Q-up for buses. Unlike in Singapore, everyone just want to scramble into the buses. If you're old, you may wait (long long) for someone to give up your seats. I've seen far too much of discourteous acts by the locals here.
Shame on you lah!

Are our local boys up to defence and protect our nation?

I haven't got any slightest clue on the above subject. To be honest, I bet there will be some who will be keen to serve the nation and while others, are obviously not that interested to do so.
For the reasons I could think of are as below:

1) Singapore sure safe lah! (who knows when Singapore will ever have a war or facing terriorism attacks)

2) Being too lazy

3) PAIN (anywhere on any joints/parts of their bodies)
Funny enough , I've overheard with this conversation between to NS boys at the MRT train.

NS boy 1: I hurt my ankle leh. Wah bo pain, that doc may send me for MRI. Quite expensive leh. But who cares since army pays for it.

NS boy 2: good lor, can take time out and no need do army shi*.

*This is an exellent example of how such boys are basically wasting tax payer's money for nothing!! That's right, it could be part of your income tax contribution too.
NS boy 1 was able to stand on his feet from Bedok to Raffles place without any whinge on pain on his ankle.

When will the real men please stand up?

By the way, why must the NS boys bringing their daddy mommy along for consultation? I don't get it. Or is it because you are still young and unable to be responsible for your own health?

Lost my mojo on blogging

Perhaps, too many things have caught up with me lately. I hardly find the time to get my a** sit down and blog. For the Mons and Thurs I would have the training with the special athletes. Dinner invites from footwear companies to attend to. Catching up with fellow colleagues from other hospitals. Going for talks on almost every Tue before work starts.

Despite with the hectic schedule, I'm planning for a Turkey and Greece trip at the end month. This could also mean I'll be celebrating my big day most likely somewhere in Turkey.

Finally got a chance to meet up with Zena @winebar with some of her cute friends. Glad to see you back from UK! I had a blast drinking martinis and eating fatty seafood pack on that night. Even though it was a little of my disappointment that orange martini wasn't avaliable at that time. Bailey's was off the shelf too! Just when DT was thinking about ordering Bailey with green tea mix.

Rach and hubby were in town some weeks ago. So happy to see Rach again which reminded me of the good o' times we had at Paramatta (Sydney) enjoying the Korean food and desserts. YUM! Thanks for making a trip to my clinic. Hope I've provided an insight on footwear advice ;p

After clinic, we adjorned to one of the Jap resturants at PP with Rach's friends for dinner. Yeaaaah Parkway!!!

*****************

Special notes:

Dear Liz (elittlebird), if you do read this, I just want to let you know that I'm with you always.Especially through this difficult period with your dad who has been really sick. *hugs*

Dear SM, it's no fun getting a divorce from your lousy hubby while being 7mths peggy. I still hope that you will stay strong each and everyday. You know that the little bub who is about to be born will be showered with our love constantly.

*****************

Another special note:

I've got a lady who came from poor family background. The family of 5 rely on the public assistance in order to survive. What's worst, the children were all mentally disabled and helpless. They are not able to even perform simple work tasks. The parents would often complained to me that they are being screamed or yelled at for nothing.

I know I may have gone abit 'too far'. We did drop off some stuffs for them at their place. Thanks mom being the representative. Heh. At least I didn't have to show my face and just in case with the hoo ha (if you know what i mean).

Mom felt we have done a good deed . And certainly, there are poor families around in Singapore who should deserve a bit more.

Banned those scrubs

Someone suggested we should wear scrubs for work. So she doesn't need to think about 'what to wear' daily for work. And it's easy with washing where the work clothes is often seperated from the family ones. I don't agree with wearing scrubs.
We don't even have a proper changing room for a start due to limited space constraint. No way I will fold my clothes and tuck into the small cabinet. At the end of the day, I hate the idea of going out wearing winkled tops or bottoms. Too fugly!
What's worst, there isn't enough time to pee. Let alone changing scrubs for lunch time.
Neither I will wear the scrubs to eat outside the hospital setting.
Lastly, what if we were asked to attend a meeting or meeting rather someone of VIP, I don't think I want to be in my fugly scrubs and greet that person in the office.

Mice killing

While I was having lunch with my fellow colleagues, we chatted about how pests can be so annoying in the house. Y is currently studying in Australia and she actually shared her experience about how the mice died from committing suicide. She would actually let a piece of cheese floated on the basic of water. This would lure out the mice, dashing out for the cheese and eventually got drown in the water.
Another assitant nurse claimed she used to drop the mice into the washing machine and let me spinned to death. 0_o

My friend's (soon-to be) ex-hubby is a retard

Since they have been together and married for the last 10years, is there a need for divorce to take place when she is pregnant for a couple of months?
Some men are just fugging bastards. Like VN said, they must have suffered from some form of serious brain damage.

Buaya's sms

He said he was worried about me being sick because he is attracted to me.
Makes sense?!?
The world is certainly changing.
Sigh* 2 weeks never get to exercise and now I feel like a whobble jelly beanie.

I'm sick and angry *roar*

I've realised long time ago I do have high expectations about the way how I like my clinic to be setup.
Still running a fever at 38 degres celsius, I've expected a patient whose name did not appear on my name list coming through at 2.30pm. However there was already a patient booked in at 2.30pm.
Later, I was informed by the receptionist saying that the countergirl at Clinic Y has booked this patient in since the slot was vacant -which means the previous patient has cancelled the appointment. Prior the booking, this patient actually came down to my clinic to get registered which we were not informed in the first place. Clinical notes are not being sent to my room promptly. I was almost going to snap because firstly, my load is quite heavy. Working with a locum nurse doesn't help much. I don't get the luxury to check through every tiny details of the patients in and out since my clinical work already took up most of my time.
I rang up clinic Y and told her off that if she could have the courtesy to ring us up for any changes on patient list.
In addition,I told her strictly that I don't like such 'surprises'. Definitely, I'll get back to her supervisor.

You give me fever

Worked through the whole of Friday despite the fact that I was running a temperature. Too late to cancel the apppointments which have been booked in much earlier. ; ( Not happy Jan.
Concussed at 9pm till 9 am in the morning. My receptionist was really nice. Gave me a head massage before I left the clinic. It felt like I'm in heaven!

*******************
Anna ( my favourite Croatian-Aussie gf) came down from Perth for a transit of 7 hrs prior leaving for Maldives. *lucky beech.
Since Anna's sister (sounds like she is a Little Miss Demanding) insisted that she gets her a pair of Chanel earrings, we took a train and got to Orchard. After Chanel shopping, it's food and drinks at Indochine. Glad A enjoys the food there ..or else...
As I told her about the clothing brand 'Banana Republic', she insisted we head down to Paragon and checked it out. Obviously she must have realised that she has been living in the 'third' world country for a long time. ho ho ho. Last stop was at Raffles hotel for a glass of true-blue Singapore Sling.
Hope to see you in Singa real soon babe!

******************

I've been going out far too much ever since before Christmas. Meeting up with old friends is simply refreshing.

*****************

Why clothes in Singapore seem so boring for my taste? I'm going to get naked very soon.

Round 3 on Mr Eye

Ho ho ho. Mr Eye agreed to pay for the concert with the most expensive ticket plus a $10 extra for dinner deal. I guess he really want someone to go along with him for that.

Then again, I've not given him any promise yet. I felt it was abit too early to decide. The concert is afterall more than a month away. ho ho ho!

******************
More random guy's update

How can someone just developed the liking for you by talking over msn. Mr Christian is really a one interesting guy. He sees regular sex is healthy with one partner at a time but against the idea of having it with other woman if he's married. That also mean he is not into cheating in a marriage. Sounds confusing? He said he was a bad christian. He needed a minute just when I told him surely he has sinned big time.

::New year resolutions 2008::

1) Remain my celibacy
2) Less buaya encounters, more men-in-checked shirts please
3) Looking bootiful as ever with less winkles on my eye areas
4) Upgrade my profession which is not going to happen till my bro finishes his degree next year.

Round 2 on Mr Eye

He texted me to say the cost of the tickets. Didn't give me the details of the venue and time/date till I've asked him.

I kinda like the band which he suggested for the concert. Somehow my heart doesn't feel 'right' to go to the concert with him.*shrugs*

Blessed christmas

The fun began on the X'mas eve. Worked for half a day. Picked up a roast turkey catered via the hospital. The order seriously cannot make it. All the orders were all jumbled up on the tax invoices. Instead of leaving at 1pm, I've only managed to get out of hospital by 2pm.
Rested at home before setting out of house to attend a potluck party at 7pm.
The army fellas suggested to go KTV. I gave that a miss as I was utterly burnt out at work.
By the way, no cutie army dudes.
Sad sad sad.

Christmas day was splendid!
Had a morning run at the ECP. Met up with Dan from Melbourne - my nursie bestie who bought me a set of clinque lipgloss, Vo5 hairspray for straightening pads, Mimi (Mariah carey) CD. In return, I threw in 100bucks subsidised for his G-star jeans.
What's so good about G-star really? I rather like my LEE skinny jeans.

Around 3 yish arvo, I met up with Nu and Kii for a movie, dinner at Ratyuzen (which CA had eaten at Millienia walk) and drinks at The Muse (Muesum). I'm quite pleased with the outcome of the day ;)

Dating mistakes

:: Don't end up beating around your own bush for too long::

Mr Eye texted me to ask if I've heard of the band called 'xxx'.

I replied that I've not heard it before and why he is asking me such question out of the blue.

Mr Eye:" oh, the band is coming to Singapore. Haven't you heard of their songs?"

Me:" what sort of band is that."

Mr Eye:" rock band la"

Me:" Are you trying to ask me to go to the concert with you?" (duh)

Mr Eye:" yup"

*not replying*

:Few minutes later:

Mr Eye: Are you interested to go to the concert still?

Me: " yeah but you did not provide any details such as the time, venue and cost of the concert. How would you expect me to give you an answer."

Mr Eye:" oh the full details only come out on 26th Dec."

Me:*grrrrrr*

No midnight mass this year for me. I'm supposed to hang out with a bunch of army captains for KTV. Again, my eyes just couldn't take it anymore.

For every Christmas, there is always someone which I will remember dearly.
::Dr Fish:: ; (

Thanks for sharing your anatomy website and even came up to the ward to pass me the map of your house so I could attend ya Xmas party.

Besides missing out on the midnight mass, I'll be thinking of the beautiful beaches in Aust, potluck for xmas dinner with friends.

I ate so much earlier on and now I stuffed! ;p

Lousy date

Mr B enjoys asking me out for lunches only. So few days ago, he asked if I want to meet out for dinner after work on a Friday. Honestly, I feel that I've been asked out to fill in his loneliness during lunch time. On top of that with all those buaya sms messages, he don't even mentioned any of those in front of my face.

Back to the dinner date, he asked if we could have it around the hospital as he would need to stay back and finish his work.

Minus brownie BIG points lor !!!

I can't believe this is how a guy asking a girl for dinner around the workplace so he could finish his work afterwards!?

I'm done with all these craps from a 'no-idea about dating' 35-year old dude.

Curl up?

Feel like using a curling tong to do some waves on my hair tomorrow. I need to pump up some volume ......

*****************
X'mas jingle mingle

I do hate arranging christmas dinners at times. While I was ordered by my friend to check out on J's schedule and in return, J asked me the same thing. What I'm trying to find out from J if she could just give me a date so we all could make the necessary arrangement. I don't know why people can't listen to proper instructions.

Another one suggested that we get to meet at places where it's baby-friendly.
So why can't she be more specified with where baby-friendly places are. In fact, none of us hasn't got any babies!? Ultimately,it sorta leaves us to decide where the preferred location is.

Lift bargers

Ever since my return from Oz, Singaporeans seem to be getting more impatient and I do hate to use this term called 'rude ass'. Let me cite an example.

My bro and myself were taking a lift up to a resturant at Raffles Town Club. This young lady just simply barge into the lift without waiting for the passengers to walk out the door. I was really giving her a cold hard stare. To think a well-dressed woman like her doesn't possesed the slight bit of courtesy.
Lousy beech.
Actually, I can give countless of the similar examples here at the hospital too.
Why everyone must be so 'gan cheong' (impatient) to get into the lift? Not as if the lift has 'legs' to run away.

High-class mama

Got this 70yr atas lady came in earlier.

Firstly, she wasn't sure why she was here in the first place as her last appointment was 1.5 months back. No treatment was required other than footwear advise. Since she was here, she requested if I could repeat the footwear advise once again. After a few minutes of foot wear education, she went on asking me about heels and platforms at which height are suitable to wear...etc.... Next, she went on claiming how the height of the platforms and heels are different.

I've rejected her idea of wearing such shoes as they are not ideal to accomodate her foot condition in the first place.

HOHOHO. She wasn't too pleased to hear that and stormed out of the clinic at once.

Truth does hurt. If she can't accept my honest opinion, there is nothing I can do about it besides throwing her back to ortho doc ;p

WTF. Some patients even think that we are shoemakers. If that's the case I might as well set up a counter called Mrs Shoe Smith outside the NTUC supermarket and fixed up people's broken heels or stretching the shoes.

****************************************

I'm so sian that I jio my patient out for lunch. That previous pt seriously spoil my appetite. In the end we had cheekueh (rice glutinous stuff with salted radish) for lunch

This 17yo boy bought me a postcard of a mountain (Kangchenjunga Range) which he climbed in India.

A small thought does brighten up my day ; )

Why can't the older male species be more considerate and less confused?

Chuck him in the cesspit?

He gave me compliments on how nice my hair colour is which suits my skin tone; amazing colour top that matches my skin tan; how I look more radiant ever since after travel. He never fail to ask me "how's my day" on almost every sms. On the general term, I wonder if he should really cares about my personality more than my physical outlook. He claimed to say that he has been observing me for awhile. Ironically, whenever we talk face to face, his eyes seems to be shy away from me. We've been out on a couple of lunch meets so far. There has been suggestive of dinner date. On the other hand, I don't wish to jeopardise our working relationships in any form of manner.

Daniel was making this cheesy statement that those quiet and shy people are usually the horny types. LOL*

: Linkin Park:

Linkin park concert was simply awesome!! Well, thanks to Dk for getting those tickets. In fact, I thought I'll never get a chance to go for concerts like this, I mean.....it's a ROCK concert. CS (Dk's childhood friend) came along with us. On the last hour, things got really heated up where we found ourselves jumping up and down and waving hands in the air. *screams* digging deeper just to throw it away..bleed it out..

:Go down under:

Came back from an acupuncture course. Met up with a group of new/old friends. Stayed over at M's place which has one of the best scenic views of Sydney city.Had a great time needling one another. I can't wait to give my assistant nurse a good prick since she has been complaining of pain at the archilles tendon insertion.
Sat the A380 flight to Syd was sensational. More roomy seats with wider screens. Thicker soft blankets for extra comfort. Everything just feel new and nice. Even the lavatory space seems to be expanded.

: Patient's wisdoms:

" If you have a son next time, must send him to ACS school. I think that school has one of the best cultures where the students are taught to speak up for themselves.Last time my son is very quiet one. Now he responded better."

" When I was 23, I already have 5 kids. People like your age are abit too slow to have babies."

"If I was younger again, I will chose to move out of the country. Nowadays, the youngsters got so many options."

" I promised I will not cut my own skin again."

Last weekend

I'm not well-trained enough to be taking part in duathalon (run, bike, run). Since a couple of my friends are heading down to Perak to participate in Powerman Malaysia 07, I'm quite happy to tag along plus the chance to getting out of Singapore.

I had a fantastic time making new friends and not forgetting ogling those hot bods. (yum!).

Didn't know Perak is soooooo far! Sat on the coach for at least an 8-hour ride. The local drivers were quite friendly. No beeping or horning at the cyclists on road. The policemen were doing a great job in maintaining an orderly traffic. I think if this ever happens in Singapore, the drivers will be swearing at the event within seconds of waiting.

The only downside was I got back to Singapore at 3am on the Monday. That sucked! I was so deprived of sleep while at work. Seeing fuzzy images of feet towards the end of the day...... So I had to grab a can of redbull from 7-11 to keep myself awake. o_O

Love Love Love

My ABNN cleaner recently got engaged to her beloved darling!
Their love story, in fact, is filled with so much of simplicity.

Since both of them live in Johore, they got back home like 11pm after work. Followed by a bus out at 5am on the next day. Where got time to pak toh? The answer is NO time at all. He was responsible cleaning the the clinic G and she was doing the housekeeping opposite his area. The only time which they have toegther is only during working hours. They don't go out out for mamak (eating out at resturants) or shopping.

Sometimes they even help each other out on the cleaning after most staffs have gone back.

Very sweet lor! Says who love needs to be complicated most of the times?
