Last weekend

I'm not well-trained enough to be taking part in duathalon (run, bike, run). Since a couple of my friends are heading down to Perak to participate in Powerman Malaysia 07, I'm quite happy to tag along plus the chance to getting out of Singapore.

I had a fantastic time making new friends and not forgetting ogling those hot bods. (yum!).

Didn't know Perak is soooooo far! Sat on the coach for at least an 8-hour ride. The local drivers were quite friendly. No beeping or horning at the cyclists on road. The policemen were doing a great job in maintaining an orderly traffic. I think if this ever happens in Singapore, the drivers will be swearing at the event within seconds of waiting.

The only downside was I got back to Singapore at 3am on the Monday. That sucked! I was so deprived of sleep while at work. Seeing fuzzy images of feet towards the end of the day...... So I had to grab a can of redbull from 7-11 to keep myself awake. o_O

Love Love Love

My ABNN cleaner recently got engaged to her beloved darling!
Their love story, in fact, is filled with so much of simplicity.

Since both of them live in Johore, they got back home like 11pm after work. Followed by a bus out at 5am on the next day. Where got time to pak toh? The answer is NO time at all. He was responsible cleaning the the clinic G and she was doing the housekeeping opposite his area. The only time which they have toegther is only during working hours. They don't go out out for mamak (eating out at resturants) or shopping.

Sometimes they even help each other out on the cleaning after most staffs have gone back.

Very sweet lor! Says who love needs to be complicated most of the times?

Recharge

I got a new plant from another client today. My clinic is running like a half nursery shop ; )
Some patients can be lovely lah. With the recent Hari Raya festive season, I got a few boxes of kueh kueh (sweets) from a client.
At least, certain patients do feel appreciative of the efforts which one has put into their treatment regime.

******************
It's all happening!:

-Preparing for Perak/Sydney trip
-Pre-reading on acupuncture (moxibustion, meridian points, history, varieties of acupuncture....etc)
-Linkin Park concert (YAY!)
-Catch a play called: Good People (www.gatecrash.com.sg)
-Sort out of paperwork
-Need to review more patients than before and hopefully their feet doesn't rot too much when I'm back.
-Finish up reading on Teacher's Man by Frank McCourt

*****************
My poor assistant puke today after we've seen a client.
Initially, I cut a bit the hard skin off.
A small yellow soft tissue peeked out from the cavity.
I tried to pull it out with a forcep. Surprisingly, it came out quite smoothly.
The next thing was a volcano of yellow thick fluid erupted from site.
WAH!!!
I was really fascinated but feeling abit queasy at the same time.
Ho ho ho!

On the job

This particular client's daughter insisted that we should give a manicure service since it was ordered by the doc.

I want to strangle that doc's neck for a moment. Since when our job involved with the upper limbs as well?!
Poor nurses! That stupid beech just refused to listen to their explainations and started to kick a big fuss at the counter.

Gosh* I can't believe for such dramas that had happened.

On the second thought, maybe I shouldn't be back in the first place.

My first hobby
I started to become an avid stamp collector when I was in Primary 3. Whenever I see a 'potential' stamps, I'll just couldn't resist to get it placed into my album.
Recently I got the stamps (on the left) at a market held every Sunday at China Square.

Extremely gifted?

Got a cute kiddo came in.

He shouted this:" Hello jie jie! Your birthday is xx-xx-xx."

Believe it or not. I told him my birthdate once which was like 3 months ago.

By the way, he's an austistic with Savant Syndrome. (which I suspect with the latter diagnosis)

Savant Syndrome describes a person having both a severe developmental or mental handicap but with extraordinary mental abilities not found in most people.(from wikipiedia)

Pts should be punished too

I've come across a blog entry of a youngthing (possibly a patient) commenting on my colleague's physical outlook. Ok, indeed, her apperance is something which not everyone can accept it. The fact is if there's a need to write such 'bad comments' ??

So healthcare workers are warned not to blog about patients or work-related stuffs. What about patients who blog and beech about healthcare workers?
Is that being fair and justified at all?
It is clearly evident that whatever she has mentioned on her blog fits into my colleague's profile perfectly.

If this happens in Australia, I would have encourage my friend to report it to the Anti-discrimination board and put her down big time!

I met an assoc. reg. at a cafe. Wah, surprisingly, she still remembers me. That was like so many donkey years ago. Maybe Docs do have good memories as this is not the first time that has happened.

I'm breaking up into pieces.............soon

I NEED a holiday............

**********************

I've been annoyed with a couple of incidents for the last few weeks. *Sux my blood*:

1) Answering phone calls when ward sister called me a few times to check if the dressings given are meant to be used for the foot only. (abuthen?)

2) Staying back to reply some nonscensical emails from people requesting waivers. Once a service is rendered, no such thing is free. Yes I went to a uni , paid huge amount of fees so I can answer any of your health concerns or enquries. How can you take up my time and asking me a few questions and yet expecting it to be free at the same time?

Should healthcare be a service industry? Isn't it rather hard for a healthcare personnel besides serving the "first do no harm" and "duty of care" rendered, and yet we also need to provided the utmost level of service? Which also could mean if a client starts to become 'manja' or kick a big fuss over the slightest thing, you still need to service with a smile (*i rather throw stones at them).
Can someone please make for me a set of kebaya and gimme some of those blue eyeshadows/or red lippie??

Who's responsible for your health?

Begin with nursing, I've always hear comments from the foreign nurses saying that how our local patients are far too dependent on health care workers for activity of daily livings to their disease process.
Eg, In China, the relatives or family members will engage in helping their sick ones with their showers, or meal feeding.
For the locals, most of them will rely on the nurses to help their sick ones. It appears that it's because they are paying for that amount of fees, so any sort of services in related to hospitalisation should be provided.
To my disgust, the family members can't even assist their very own mother or father to walk to toilets and they even need to press the bell for nurse assistance to do so.

tsk tsk tsk!

When the nurse doesn't get onto the call at once, the family will start kicking a big fuss, or threatening with complaint letters or write in to papers.
What else is new with that?

I can only forsee why the local nurses refused to stay on is because of such people around who doesn't appreciate such delicate profession. Local people don't show gratitude to whatever needs are provided so they can get better.

Yes or not?

Some folks assumed that just because my mom does all the housework all the time and that would make me a lazy ass or spoilt brat.
I admit that I don't help her: All because she thinks my way of cleaning up is always not up to her level of expectation or she would rather that I don't do it in the first place.

I've stayed overseas long enough to be independent. Unlike some of the people that I know are even too scared to take a step out of their comfort zone.
Yes, shame on you! (kiddin')

If they've never live on their own long enough, how can they judge me saying stuffs like this.
I would say it boils down to different family cultures.
If my mom's happy to do all the housework, so be it. She's not even complaining!

So keep those sour grapes to yourself, mate!

Speed dating

NW asked if I'm keen to go along with her for a dinner organised by a cupid company.Since the registration fees was only 8 bucks, I don't mind pay for that 8 dollah for a cute dude if any (*bargained!). And you will not be surprise why people chose to speed date. Not going to elaborate further on this point. What happened on that day was we got together in a bunch for a dinner. The guys get to rotate themselves among the 3 tables.

To be honest, I was bored to death with their conversations. There were a lot of Mr Engineers and Mr ITs and not forgetting Mr Accountants. Somehow, they just got the typical looks of their profession.

The geeky IT dude with golden- rimmed glasses and long face with the Armani hairstyle. And the plumpy engineer guy with the hair side parting plus got the 'damn sian' face look. No need to look also sian already.sigh*

So I asked:" what do you do for fun?"

Check the answers:" I built models over the weekends. I like to use my hands to fix up the parts." This engin boy has the softest voice that you've ever come across. Another answer says "it all depends on my friends."
So lame lar. Is that all he can describe?

Uhm, I like a guy who can be in control of situations and know how to live a life to a certain extent of spontaneity. NICE!

Bar stop

As usual, after dinner, I went to proceed doing my up-coming (frigging) presentation due next week.
Dk msn-ed me to ask if I'm keen on going Bar-stop. Uhm.....I know bus stops though. It's amazing to see the number of new pubs or you called it the 'hippee' joints sprouting everywhere in Singapore in the recent years.
Since I'm not really keen to continue with the slides, I decided to head out with DK and friends for a few drinks. Well, I had a strawberry daiquiri which was good enough to satisfy my taste bud.
Note to Dk: I'll be so upset if your friends have rejected the idea of going to the Linkin Park concert *sulk*

Flatfeet on fire

I got this pt who came in for his foot wounds review. He assumed that his foot has healed up by 90%. Took a 2 weeks break to China. Came back in a month later to discover that his ulcer 'expanded' with a few more new breakdowns.
In fact, I would say that his feet is in a bloody mess! Pissed me off big time as I'll be the one doing the cutting and cleaning and pasting stuffs onto his feet.

I told him off firmly that if he's not be keen to take on my advise, then I shall send him up for casting on both legs. I don't care how he goes to the toilet or shower. Or he can return to see his beloved bone doc for good.

Bet he must have seen me to be in rage for the first time.

Gladly for today, he said this to me:" good job hor. My feet beri goot liao"

Golden years

I got a cute couple, who has been married over 56 years, was here recently for their 3 monthly review at the clinic.

The wifey suffers from some Alzheimer's disease. She tends to lost her way whenever she was out with her LG ('laogong' or Hubby). That sometimes frustrates the LG as he always end up going to the police station to report his missing wife.
His 50yo-something daughter suggested to put mom at the nursing home.

LG rejected the idea and commented on this:" This is ridiculous. How can one say to put her in a nursing home. She's able to eat, walk and feed herself. To be married is to stay together for the best and worst."

How sweet is that........

Fantastic Friday

Texted KL to ask if he is free to come to Timbre with me but got no reply. Neber mind, I managed to grab the company of NW and KH and nonetheless, we did enjoy ourselves with drinks, pizzas, kebabs and laughters.
Oh not forgetting the 'live' band which played songs like Hooberstank, Maroon 5, michael buble, Oasis (wonderwall is my favourite!).......
I have been good to myself. Started with a mocktail called Shirley Temple and moved on to alcohol-based Blue Lagoon and Sakura.
Ice-blended kind of cocktails are my preferred drinks. For first-timer cocktail drinkers, I would suggest you can go for strawberry daiquiri.

It was pouring like hell that evening and yet the humid weather could still be felt even after the rain.

Timbre and deco

Pizza (seafood and herb)

NW's trying to check out his swallowing status with a glass of White Russian

After a few drinks, all of us starting to get abit wonky.

Weekend bonus entry:
Just because I'm the last person who attended to her 4 weeks ago, she claimed that I've cut her too deep and caused a big wound on it.
The attending doc told the pt that it's because of her ulcer formation that has caused her blood sugar reading to be high.
Can someone please pass me a pair of stilettos so that I can give that doc a hard kick on his/her a**.?

Dreams

There are times when I got sucked into my dreams that I hardly could wake up when the alarm clock goes off in the morning. The moment I was awake, I could sense that my body is more weary as though I've not had enough sleeping hours.

My assistant nurse had a weird dream last night. She was woken up by her hubby at 4am as he couldn't understand on why she was 'renching' in her sleep.
Somehow, on the day before, we had this case of ultra- super- duper smelly feet with ulcers. The smell was so hideous that I even had the door opened during treatment (with privacy ensured).
Now she was trying to figure out whether could the bad smell had caused her having a nightmare instead.
Ho ho Ho.

I want!

I want to attend the LINKIN PARK CONCERT coming up in Nov!!!! I can imagine myself 'jumping' up and down at the show in Padang.

But I don't wanna jump alone ...sob*

My favourite track "Bleed it out" can be found on the latest album titled:Minutes to Midnight.
Very upbeat kinda song. I like it ; ) Good to wake those morning sleepyheads.

Somehow it also reminded me of the song 'black betty' by the Australian rock band called Spiderbait. Each time when this song come onto the radio, I would definitely keep nodding my head to the music tune even when I'm driving.(I still miss my little silver Echo!)
Sigh* If I ever do this in Singapore, I guess most drivers think I'm 'keesiao' (mad).

Another great aussie band from Melbourne called Jet with their songs "Are you gonna be my girl" and "Look what you have done" produced an excellent insight not just the rock but the roll like greats of yesterday.

Looks like I'll be missing Australia rock music for a while.......

************
Joe (my ex-classmate) used to whack on his drum set at his garage. Too bad I can't play with his electric guitar. Well, me and Milly (the rotteweiler?)will just hop around when the music is played. Too bad Joe enjoys playing those 80s aussie rock which I haven't got the slightest clue on that ;p

Shoes saga

My dad has got an inflammed Haglund's deformity ( a bump that sticks out at the archilles tendon due to excessive pronation of foot) because he claims that his shoes are lousy or too small for him to wear.
Now he is asking for my help. It is not helping either for the fact he is leaving Beijing for a week tomorrow plus a sore heel.
I gave him some moleskin (anti-friction) plasters to take along with him for the trip.
For the umpteen times, I've told him to get the 'proper' footwear aaaaaaages ago and yet he refused to take my advise.
I don't know is it because of the chinese culture thing which the head of the family never listens to the youngthings or he's just being ignorant. I find it hard to sink in the fact that I'm back staying with family. The only 'worry' that I have while staying in Aust is to make sure I got my bills (electric, rent, phone, various insurances, car service fees...etc) to be paid on time. Now I gotta spread my worries on dad, mom and bro.
It's hard but I know I'll have to survive.

Did I mention about Dad's atrocious diet for lunch?
2 glasses of kopi plus laksa.

He has got hypertension and overweight.

I don't know how I can help him to see the value of health.

Apparently VN did came up with a good suggestion.....
Unbeatable

Em rang me up and asked if I'm interested to buddy with a special athlete for a 1okm Standard Chatered run this coming Dec.
10km ? will do.
That will be my next challenge since after 5km run for shape wasn't that too tendious at all.

The only thing I hate about staying in Australia is their ever confusing tax system.

Bonous weekend entry:

I was taking a bus back after I had facial done at Marine Parade. The bus wasn't loaded with many passengers anyway. I was standing at the exit door with another dude waiting for the bus to stop. The auntie in black has absolutely no patience at all where she was sorta forcing her huge tote bag ( reminded me of those si beh auntie version ones) into the tiny space between me and the scanning machine. The bus was jerking abit ocassionally due to several buses ahead of the vehicle. The auntie ,who was still persistent about getting her bag ' scanned', got me no choice but to tell her that "Hey Auntie, can't you just wait for your turn?"
I don't mean to be rude in anyway but too much of kiasuism is not good for your health.

I agree with Mr PM saying that don't make Singlish as part of Singapore. Singlish is avaliable only in the use of Singapore's context but not anywhere else in the world. My ang moh friends find it amusing using Singlish with the 'lars' and 'lohs'. There are some others may find it not applicable in their conversations, probably they just don't know how to use it. Again, I have no any intention of dismissing the use of Singlish. My suggestion is use it when necessary and under 'appropriate' circumstances.

how come my face feels so oily after facial?

All -time- favourite hit

By Youssou N'Dour And Neneh Cherry

::7 seconds::
(with translation in English)

Don't see me from a distance
Don't look at my smile
And think that I don't know
What's under and behind me
I don't want you to look at me and think
What's in you is me
What's in me is to help them
I assume the reasons that push us to change everything

I would like us to forget about their color
So they can be optimistic
Too many views on rave that make them desperate
Let's leave the doors wide open
So they can talk about their pain and joy
Then we can give them information
That will bring us all together

Chorus:
It's not a second 7 seconds away
Just as long as I stay, I'll be waiting
Nothing can move us, we should be moving

From the ones who practice wicked charms
For the son and the stone Bad to the bone
Man is not evil, even when it's born
And when a child is born into this world

It has no concept
The tone the skin is living in

Chorus
There's a million voices

There's a million voices
To tell you what she should be thinking
So you better sober up for a second

Catch the MTV on you-tube which was wonderfully produced!
The song was sang partly in French (i think) and had won a Grammy nomination in 1994.
In addition, this international hit reached the top 3 in many countries such as Germany, UK, Australia..etc
I love listening to it! Going to get VN to search this song for me and download onto my new Creative gadget.

Music gets the best of me

I love to play Jazz music when I'm working. Try listening to the hospital's classic music. Every freaking day they are playing the same old thing. Even patients are not happy about it. Thank goodness there's a volume control system in my room to turn off those annoying tunes.

However, after a day's work, I would prefer to listen songs by Jason Mraz, Plain white Ts, The Fray (love their songs soo much), Lighthouse family, Hoobastank, Maroon 5, Oasis....etc Recently, I was thinking that if one day should I dress up as a Rock Chick, I would be singing this song by Stone Temple Pilots called 'Plush'.

Best discography songs belong to Sophie Ellis Bextor. I can boogie my bums throughout with her music.

Going on second best disco track on my list would be Sneaky Sound System (check them out on you-tube).

I got a new Lisa Ono soundtrack which I can play it at my workplace tomorrow!

Wheeeee!

LaLaLaLaLa...Lalalalala
When I was little, I'm an avid collector of smurfs. I would collect stickers of them, figurines, tshirts and not forgetting my smurfette comb.
These little blue things have been with me for the past 20yrs. Few days ago, I took them out to have their first bath.

Men

I had a dinner with a guy friend from my secondary school recently. I've come to realise that he can be labelled one of the most boring guys on earth. I mean, we've been friends for the past 10 years and of course I don't mind him as friend BUT he would be classified as a lousy bf category.

He has been constantly complaining to me that he hasn't found a suitable girl to date...etc..

Actually, he did went out with this girl for a dinner date. Throughout the talking, he realised that she may not be 'the one' afterall.

I almost yell at him for being so judgemental on the first date.

*sigh* Patience...I can't see any in him.

Neber mind. Since I'm considered as his good friend, this was what I've telling him at least from a girl's perspective.

" Ah Bee, you are too career focused. I know you want to make it big. Sometimes, you got to learn when to slow down and smell the roses. Don't just spend all your time entertaining your clients. Do spend a friction of time with your friends too (in regardless of guys or girls). * note: He has this thing against meeting secondary school girl-classmates."

Most people that I know doesn't seem to understand when it's the time to play, you PLAY. When it's time to work, you WORK.

When I was representing the school for basketball games in the early years with training 3 times a week, I would have to manage loads of school work at the same time. There's no time mucking around for other miscellaneous stuffs.

Anything can be done with proper time managment skills ;)

About an ABNN story

I paid a bottle of Betadine (antiseptic solution) for this ABNN's wound. Poor ABNN didn't know he's paying the private rate for his treatment. How the employer treat the foreign ABNNs one? He already suffered so much pain before the op and on a week's MC, his boss wanted him to start work before the MC expires.

I told him that if the boss insists on him starting work before coming an end of MC period, I will call his boss and kpkb. And will also indicate that the liability is on him should the toe becomes black.

ho ho ho!

A Small drama

Pa claimed that I've been an exceptional unfilial daughter in his eyes at least. The socks deal which I got it from Nxxx was meant for the disabled athletes. Honestly, I was proud of myself securing such 'deal' on the behalf of those athletes.
Pa insisted to have a pair of socks from the free giveaways but I refused to give him any.
So much that I've explained that most athletes are coming from poor family backgrounds, he shouldn't even have the cheeks to ask for it.
Nothing much I can do since he's been so pissed with me.
Vn has brought to my attention that most chinese dads can be upset if the daughters are giving away stuffs for outsiders instead for own family members.
She suggested I should get a pair for him in order to buy 'peace' at home.
I supposed that's the only way to pacify him.

Kinda upset sometimes.

What's cooking

::Friday::

Went out to Velvet Underground with a babe selling insulin and another one selling some kind of dressings. We took turns to buy drinks since it's 1 for 1 deal till 1 am.
Met a banker who tried to chat up with me. As far as getting to know guys in a club, I'm not really that keen at all. Strangely enough, I just don't believe in clinching a good catch at clubs. (or unless you are damn frigging lucky). A dark ang moh guy attempted to buy me a drink.I had to reject it politely since my gf already getting me 2 glasses of Vodka redbull. He was cool about it. Vn was commenting that if only he looks abit like Denzel Washington. Too bad he wasn't ! ;p

If only finding a Mr Right with a kind soul would be that easy, I wouldn't be hanging in the air for so long. So much for my study and career sacrifices made for the past couple of years, I suppose my social life only regain it's full swing till my recent return in Sg. I was dying to have my SOCIAL LIFE back while I was in Oz.

::Saturday::

Work as usual. Went over to meet M at Marina Sq. Had Carl Junior meal for the first time. We were volunteering our time with Nxxx store in conjunction with the Shape run. Spoke to SC and Ive asked if he could kindly donate some socks to the disabled athletes. And he did agree! I was overwhelmed by his generosity and kindness. At least for now the athletes can have some decent socks to wear during their sports activities.

I truly enjoy the perks and benefits being in this profession. With that, I'm able to throw those perks into good use for those people who are in need. Last year (while Im in Oz), Clarks gave me a free pair of children shoes for my' kid' to try on. Eventually, I gave it away to a pt of mine with celebral palsy. She was happy as a lark!

::Sunday::

Gearing up for the Shape run. Did 5 km with the disabled runners.Got on a short appearance on ESPN's sport centre. The main organiser has been rather kind to the runners where they can get to chill out at the VIP arena with media attention. The feeling of being able to run in the CBD area was sensational. Headed down to KM8 with a girlfriend for a swim. Checked out some stores at Vivo.
I did have a wonderful time.

Rude people

I had a request from a doc for an early appointment on a case of tendinitis condition.
While communicating halfway with a nurse, the doc took over the phone and asked if I could see the client within 2 weeks.
I replied that I need to check on the appointment first and happy to take down pt's contact in the meantime.

Check the response I got below:
" no need la, I think I am wasting my time here. Forget it.I'll send the patient outside"

I don't frigging care if you are big doc or small doc.Certainly, you don't present yourself with proper manners at all. Neither was I rejecting the doc's request. qu4 si3 ba4.

Locals here seem to be too shy to use the words like "please", "thank you" or "hello".

Uh oh, I feel as though I'm standing at the cross-cultured junction again.

Thanks darling for this yummy- looking black sausages pic from Okinawa!

The one lighter in colour contained seaweed. The main ingredient is pork. Apparently, it tastes fishy as commented by VN.
I can't help but to think that it would be nice to make it into sandwiches for lunch. YUM YUM!

Bonous Monday:

The ring works! No doubt I didn't wear it around my finger, this auntie assumed I'm married with one kid. Ho ho ho.

I was thinking I may look abit too young to have 3 kids. I'll settle with one for now. ;p

Top 10 things I never want to hear from patients....

I've contributed the first 3 statements to a pod forum. And now the rest as followed below:

1) " Since you are working as a healthcare professional, can I ask you a few questions on my piles as well?"
*Believe it or not, this patient threw a fair amount of questions on her piles (haemorriods) treatment on me early in the morning somemore. knn....
Worst! Hear this out. She also did tell me that how her hubby had his extral lump tried with a 'string' and fell it off eventually. Now she is wondering if the procedure will be the same as her hubby's.
恶心!我 ptoooi!

2)" Can you please check my fingernails if they need to be cut?"

3)" Can't the insoles be any cheaper? The other Dr at another hospital is selling for xxx price."

4) " I can't get a taxi on time. No taxis stopped for me"

5) " I see the wrong date/wrong date/wrong place"

6) "Since im here, can i get you to write a prescription of insulin, asthma medications OR something for headache, stomach pain OR flu? And also please give me some cream for my itchy body"

7)" Can I also get you to see my father/grandfather/grandmother/mother/daughter/son/auntie/uncle/grandchildren's feet as well since they are there?"

8) My big dr said the heel cushions will resolve my pain.

9) I thought you guys talior-made shoes?

10) Why are my nails so thick as I get older?

****
Bonous entry:

11) "My physiotherapist gave me some insoles but my pain on the heels is still there"
--> For those who issued insoles (besides the pods) ought to be shot in their heads sometimes.

Sponsorship

I emailed to the dude that I've known from Nixx headquarters. Stated on the email on the reasons why these athletes are in need of the socks, and if possible, sponsorship will be ideal and beneficial (marketing purpose). If sponsorship is not granted, other avenues of looking at sponorship will be from my own pocket. My beloved assistant nurse doesn't even mind chipping in a bit.

Dad offered to get his business partners involved if necessary.woohoo!

Come on, why should these special athletes wearing crappy socks (think socks that has been washed and tumbled in a washing machines for a few times) for training in the first place?

Dear Aunties/Uncles/Ah Peks/Ah mahs,

I know you all really care for my happiness. There are times I wish I can stop you all asking me if "I am married or not", "got a boyfriend boh?", " How can no boyfriend with your bootiful face", "If got a guy which I find suitable for you, can I ask him to come down to this room and look for you."

I've been bombed by such questions for the whole of last Friday at my clinic. Nothing much I can do anyway besides just smile lorrrr!
*ROAR*

There was this Uncle (chee-ko-pek?) even volunteer to get me flowers on the next visit.

I don't mind any guy who give me a bunch of tulips anytime though
Who knows I may even plant him a kiss upon receiving it. Ho Ho ho!

*******************************

Back from training with a bunch of special athletes gearing up for Shape run in September. Did a quick assessment on their lower limbs. Most of them not wearing good pair of socks. Every 4 athletes I've seen , 3 of them do possess some lower limb disorders. Funding from the sports hub is limited. I would have sponsor them quality pairs of socks only if my financial status allows. But Ah boy's school fees is due in Dec.....sigh*

Have to work more Saturdays this month. Real bummer ;(

My bro is the rockstar

Singapore Insitute Management is holding an annual uni bash at St James power house tomorrow evening. The ticket is going at $12. And my bro, being part of the committee, has been ordered to dress up like a 'rockstar'.

His outfit has been planned like this:

Calvin Klein skinny black jeans+ short sleeved white button down shirt.
Added a black 'old skool' look tie.

Accessorised with a metallic faux pax leather spidey wrist band, my chunky rings, and dark maroon nails by Maybelline Express fast drying varnish.

Slow and steady.....

My bro wants to know what other colours that are avaliable.

Yeah babey!! ;)

I think you ought to be a more happy pregnant lady.

Dear Ben,

Now that you are moving into your second semester in Med 1, I hope you don't feel too despair or lonely being overseas by yourself. Studying abroad wasn't too much of an issue for me. However, everyone is different. All you need is the extra time to get yourself familiarized with the surroundings and finding your own clinque of friends which you can hang out with. Trust me. At the end of your studying journey, your life will be fufilled and relieved at the same time.Maybe you haven't got used to staying by yourself for such a long period of time. And of course, it is unlike the 'staying by yourself' in the army days.
I hope you can persevere and remember that your focus is on your study. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm sitting with you all the time.

Bugis Bagus

After paying a visit at Dr Oz's clinic last Saturday, took a one-stop train ride to Bishan station. Caught up with Con's friend to get the tickets on her behalf for a chinese drama play. Met up with Cons at Raffles MRT station. Such a shame it was pouring heavily on that day as we've planned to check out the rivermarkets at the Arts House. A lot of stalls selling upmarket accessories armed with their own creavitiy and labellings. When I was staying in Oz, I don't mind paying such handmade accessories. But the locals seem to give me the impression that since there isn't any brand attached, it may not worth to pay the price for that particular item.

Eg, a handmade bag will not comparable to a stylish branded bag.

This is probably the best way I can put it.

Got a call from Em saying that there was another bazzar happening at Nafa along Bencoolen St.Gosh, that place was packed with (mainly) ladies. Not your ideal Giordano or U2 brand clothings. Most of the fashion are in its vintage form. Prices can be a little on the steep side. After rummaging a few stalls, we decided to move on to Bugis for a drink.

Cons is doing 4 yrs of chinese studies at Beijing Uni. So her 'comrade' arrived. We chatted a lot about living overseas, our experiences vs local expectations. We agreed that we find it hard to communicate with our local friends especially after staying overseas for quite sometime. No, I'm not trying to judge on those who hasn't or can't afford to get a taste of living overseas. Going abroad has taught me a better person than I used to be. ( I'm more patience with others. Being considerate, always spare a thought of others. Know when to protect yourself and be firm..etc)

Regular travelling has also broaden my horizons on certain aspects of life. I used to be a timid little girl who wasn't very good at open up myself.

So there you go.

Pick shit

Mr TT was referred from another hospital for our specialist service. Fine, I took over the case. 90% of the wound was healing well. However, he would need to have a follow up with the previous hospital's surgeon for a wound inspection as done monthly. After the consult, Mr TT will have his dressing done by the nurses weekly. By right, he would need to have his next follow up with me a week later. Not sure what exactly took him a month to come in and see me. The wound site has increased extensively on the lower limb with moderate amount of seeping fluids seen.

So pek chek+++

I told him that it's either he has the follow- up with me on the expected date given or he can choose to have all the follow up at the previous hospital.

While I gave him my honest opinion, I was kinda really trying to control my temper. Just because he is the frigging patient, he can tell me which dressing to use instead of the suggestive one.

I'm ready to discharge him if he screws up the appointment.

Travel bug hits North

I had to drag my lazy ass up early in the morning to Dr Oz' clinic at Tpy. I was disciplined enough to go for my morning run prior to that.

To speed up the journey, I took a bus to AMK station and followed by train. Guided by Dr Oz's precise instructions given, I've managed to arrive at the clinic as the first client. Met Dr Oz for the first time and gave me 2 jabs which appeared to be not too 'traumatising' for me. Must be due to the skillful hands of Dr Oz. ho ho ho.

Next, I went over to Tpy central to catch up with Sab for a drink. An hour later, caught the bus 238 to another gf's house for some Jap style home-cooked lunch. After our meals, she decided that we should catch a concert by SYC at Tanjong Pagar.Left the concert half-way through for Junction 8 mall.Wahhhhh, junct 8 mall has changed so much. Everything looks so newwwww. hurhur.

The girls have booked a table with Secret Receipe for a get-together dinner. Apparently, the resturant has been shut down. The line was transferred to another outlet upon table reservation. All of us ended up eating at Cafe Cartel, then over to Coffee Bean plus a spontaneous birthday celebration for L at the entrance of Junct 8 since all the shops were shut. Took some silly pics and went on to Mackers for drinks till the place has closed at 1am.

Can't believe I've spent about 7 hrs at Junction 8 mall. Hurhur!

Sunday - Attended a chinese drama theatre show called 'big fool lee' with my mom at Drama centre (inside National library). My dad went spinning around Fort canning area until I've checked with Vn that the place wasn't there anymore.
And my bro (aka dickhead) , who is a library goer, didn't even know that the new drama centre is there lor!!! Bloody loser!!

Stab! Stab! Stab!

What's wrong with the training on the hospital's clerks nowadays? Si beh sub-standard.

Or rather the department has been assigned with some receptionists who haven't got the slightest idea of handling patients? Beats me.

Patient's appointment was at 3pm but came at 5pm. Clerk did the registering without asking my approval since the pt was super duper late.Another assistant nurse rang and advised me that my 'last' pt was here waiting. I was busy attending the in-patients and couldn't believe that it was close to 5pm and yet what on earth is the clerk is doing.
Nevermind, I rushed down the clinic and realised that the clerk had already registered the patient. Knn!!! Usually with patients who are late for more than 30mins, it's either I don't see them at all or if there are already patients ahead of them, they will be seen as the last in regardless.

Moving on to the next case scenerio, the clerk can call me during my lunch break and make unncessary enquires. Don't expect me to give up my lunch break to see patients anyway. And that's not going to happen.

Wo ye shi ren.

Last but not least, this clerk also has the habit of asking the patients to talk into my room asking for walk-in appointment.

Woman pt: hi are you Miss XXX, I want to see you can or not.

Me: Can, as long as you have made an appointment.

Woman pt: The lady at the counter asked me to come in here leh.

Me: Never mind, let me walk with you to the counter and make an appointment.

*Standing at the counter

Me: Can you please help this lady to make the appointment?

Blurr clerk: She wants to walk-in

Me: Then you could have let the nurse know rather than asking the patient to come into my room while I'm having chocolates in my mouth. Would you please not to do that in near future?

*WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

These clerks need some serious boot camp EQ training!!!
