Angry blog

I can't exactly remember when was the last time I threw into a fit of anger. I would have feel pissed or annoyed about certain things but not to the stage of blowing my top off .

However, when my stuffs get missing (for unknown reasons) or destroyed, I'm definitely pissed on fire.
Since my mom was away for a trip, my bro volunteered to do the laundry. It is only fair that he gets to do it since the rest of us were at work. I would expect he has basic knowledge in washing. Nope, the exact opposite happened. He dumped all the coloured clothes together with the whites.
Now I have to say thanks to him for destroying my expensive white vest plus a couple of other stained white tops. There are already 2 buckets in the laundry room. Quite obvious the white and coloured are seperated before hand.
I don't know if should continue to sponor his uni fees or not. The more he studies, the less common sense he has. Probably he just being ignorant.
I don't know what he is really good at. Besides going chalet, attending parties and drinking, he sounded more like a pest at home. He wakes up like frigging middle of the day and surfs online till the time he is going out to meet friends again.

Anyhow, I need to check on my white vest which I've been bleaching it since last night.

Run babey

I ran 5km with a bunch of disabled people who will be taking part in competitive marathons events coming up soon. They can run amazingly fast okay?!

Again before the run, I did quick check on their feet and footwear assessment as well.

It was all good.

***************

My mom misplaced my one and only running shorts in my brother's cupboard.
Pissed me off. My bro has got a small butt and how can she expect my bro to fit well into my shorts.

Next shopping list:
1) new glasses
2) new running shorts x 1 pair
3) running singlets
4) pumps - I don't know why but I can never find shoes that fits my feet in Singapore. ; (
Bata and other girlie shops are out of questions.

Motive or not

I've got a doc who recently caught up with me in regards about our patient's current treatment plan. So, it all began with a phonecall, followed by emails, smsing (mainly work related stuffs)
And today,we went for lunch for the 2nd time.

I was wondering.......

Is he trying to get me to see more of his patients and that's why he's been treating me so nicely.

*puzzled*

Out of town

Went for a gateway to KL over the weekend. Got home about 6pm. Caught the bus at Golden Mile (it's like a mini thailand in Singa) at 9pm to KL. Tour agency screwed up my hotel booking. I almost went beserk when they didn't even prepare my tour voucher before hand. At that moment, I wish I have the strength to overturn their furnitures (think about having Xmen's power) and break it into pieces.

M was a great companion for the trip. Bet those muscular arms of his must have caught the attention of some ladies and most men in Malaysia. Walking through the Petaling St markets was probably the worst experience for him. There's this Malay pacik went like :" Strong man, Singlet for you Sir. Come come, strong singlet." There is another pacik said like this: " Hye, mate, come on mate, Handbag for your wife/gf sir."
Gosh, those paciks just can't resist squeesing his arms. LOL
M felt he has been partially 'molested' then.

Met JC for lunch. Finally after all these years of keeping in touch, we met and chatted. And met again the following morning for breaky with 2 more new friends.

M and myself headed down to Aloha club on the Saturday night. M was thinking that since we were dressed up like a beach bum, there is no way the club can reject us. I looked so sloppy in my red Havanias, white skirt and a Zara dark pink shirt. Well, I suppose M being the ang moh, the club doesn't mind if he dressed down to the nines.
We ended up meeting a bunch of KL girls and boys and partied till 3am or 2am?

so tired la!

- Wow, this auntie enjoyed giving good career advice.

No exercise

Of all the days in the week, why must it rain on weekends!? Means no rollerbalding or swimming or running.
Neber mind.
Saturday was rather busy for me.
Got paid to surf net the whole morning, sent my Aussie friend to the airport, followed by (window) shopping in Orchard with urchinstabber.
I've just subsidised 100% on my bro's fees. My friend commented that I could have get a number of Gucci bags lar for myself.
When the GST is increasing to 7% in July, I'll be paying more extra blings *sob*.
Not as if my pay is going to take a hike anyway.
A long-time friend from whom I've known in Perth text me if I wanna head down to Cannery. I thought I would have to give it a miss as I'm not keen paying cover charge to get into a club and drink.

Few hours later, my high school mates asked if I wanna head down to winebar. The best part of of the night was for every citibank cardholder, you pay 1 for 1 on the drinks whole night long. Woohoo!!
Left the club at 2am and saw a few Xiao didis (young boys) and Xiao mei meis (young ladies) puking along the road, Tsk tsk. How can they get piss until such state?? So xia suay man!( ultimately embrassing).

Toilet story

There was this ABNN lady ,who works at the clinic oppsite where I'm at, kaopeh at me. Wtf! She kaopeh-ed at me when I was in the middle of doing no.2.
KNNCCB!
She even questioned me that if I'm someone from record office. So what if I'm from record office which means I can't use the public toilet opposite my clinic is it??!!!?

How bizzare!!!!

If she disturbs me at again tomorrow when I'm using the toilet, I'll definitely ask how much she has paid for the toilet cubicle. Or should I throw a 20cent coin at her for using this toilet.

hmmm.........

********************
Frigging Dr Dua Lokun wants me to see his patient in again tomorrow just because he couldn't handle his 'princess' 's rubbish requests anymore.

FABulous weekend

:Saturday:

Peagirls and myself had an arrangement to be out for drinking at a local club. Was abit nerve-wrecking for a start as I know the peagirls (girls whom I've known from blogs) have already met one another. Friendships amongst themselves were pretty well-established prior my homecoming. I wasn't sure if I would feel rather odd or not for an instance.
I've not stepped into any clubs for ages in Singapore. So far I've given MOS's fashion bar a go.
That's pretty much about it. When age catches up, I find it more difficult to stay up till late and partay like what the youngthings are doing.
Madpot and her friend, Midori reminded me of those days where I always enjoyed clubbing with a gf. Just both of us dancing through the night with minimal drinking.
Ting and JD were like snoozing on the couch. Like what I've mentioned earlier, ages does catch up. Once in a while, we do need abit of rest before the energetic mood sets in.
I love the feeling of standing up on the platform doing the retro moves with FF and the girls. So synchronised and happening. "chugeder" ya know.
I didn't manage to snog anyone that night ;p
It was good fun still.
:Recuperating Sunday:
Not so really. Went swimming with bro and played basketball with his mates. Fanstastic opportunity to burn out those million of calories I've accumulated from the drinking session.
Mr Aussie asked me out for drinking at Clark Quay. Hate the idea of rejecting him but was too tired to hang out.

我的心声

Middle aged ladies are the toughest group of customers which I find it hard to handle sometimes. I feel totally drained especially after each consulation. No offence to the ladies who fall into such age gap.

They tend not to answer questions directly when asked.
Eg: When I ask if there's any specific pain on the foot, she will say like :" ya everywhere and all over my legs, back also. Sometimes the knees."

They tend to forget what they say.
Eg.
Me: I would think an xray will be necessary to rule out any other conditions on your feet.
SHE: Ya that would be better

*after xrays done

SHE: Aiyoh, why must wait for so long to know results. Must send for reporting immediately. Actually why I don't know why I need an xray leh.

Is there a necessity to kaopeh kaobu so much. Knn.

They like to ask questions over and over again.

SHE: I get the shoes first or insoles first. The shoes I have at home is normal one. Insoles looks so hard. Don't want to wear lah. But my foot still pain leh.How uh?

See, such patients always enjoy beating around the bush despite the fact that I've clearly explained the treatment plan.

What's worst. When they get confused, they refused to leave the clinic and think think think for a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time.

Let's recycle!

Since I've landed in Australia 7 years ago, I've been taught the importance of using a recycle bag for grocery shopping. Differentiate the rubbish from those recycle products vs non-recycled ones. In fact, it wasn't so much of hassel to do that.

Getting the idea of recycling in Singapore proves too much for the locals to handle. On the contrary, maybe I shouldn't be making such a generalised statement. Considering Singapore is a well-advanced and well-educated society, how can we not accept the concept of recycling easily? Don't we want our future generations to live in a less polluted enviroment ?

I can see what the enviroment department is doing its best by setting up recycle bins within reach of the locals. The million dollar question is: What is making the local people so reluctant to recycle?

Is it because they are lazy? Ignorant? Can't be bothered attitude? No time lah! - Singaporean's favourite excuse of all times.

Plastic bags in drink can recycle bin??

My assistant is a very good example of why she thinks recycling is not necessary.
She says:" I don't use air con, don't open fridge for too long. So that's ok what."

Me:" The amount of rubbish you dumped per day do take up space on our planet. So people get to incinerate those excessive rubbish and thus causing air pollution. If you and I don't think about recycling, your daughter's generations and after generations will have to pay for the price. Hence with on-going pollution, those thick black smoke will start to choke up their lungs. Quite sad that if million of others do think alike like you do."

My mom has set up a box solely for recycle glass and paper products at the kitchen area.

I've managed to grab a used- carton and placed it at my clinic for recycle purpose ; )

Horror

Mr K refused to leave the place despite the fact that his appointment was rescheduled. Firstly, he was ultimately late for like 2 hours. Next, my appointment is blocked in the afternoon for nail surgery or special dressing. Hence, there's no way I can see Mr K.
He wasn't happy with the given date and kicking a big fuss just because he was some healthcare worker's relative.
Whatever la. I'm too nice.I've forced him onto my appointment list as last patient tomorrow. He can chose to wait for hours if he wants to.
Basically I'm already overloaded for tomorrow's booking.
Fug*

Mr high-profile rang and requested me to see his pt tomorrow. I have to reject his request. To be honest, I don't like his pts - too 'mangja' for God's sake. Always whining in front of the counter just because of long waiting period. I haven't got any choice but to explain to him that there's a Miss VIP tomorrow.Well, you can't rush when giving 'VIP' treatment!
Judging from the list, I don't even know what time to give pt.
Fug*

At this moment, I feel as though someone is holding a knife at my throat.

Woos and more sorrows

1) After complaining for the 3rd month of not having a functional mouse, I've got it today.......finally. Frigging hell that I have to endure that lousy piece of sh** mouse to click on patient Q-number.

2) Replying complain letters when they are not actually my patients simply because there are no one else to do it.

3) The plants almost died because the aircon was off on weekends.

4) My email was sent out with the designated email add. Somehow it landed into this Dr's mailbox. Checked my SENT folder, don't have his email add leh. Called up the IT guy and he said he will definitely investigate for that matter. Wah liew!! Zero privacy on the internal mailbox lor. I feel like digging a hole to hide my face inside.Gek sim +++.
Not saying I am writing some horrible facts or gossips but some direct views on patient's appointment issues. Still!! Not so pleasant for others to read , right?????

''Chiong" the weekend

Friday- I chilled out with a couple of friends at Clark Quay. Had dinner at this fantastic Jap-western cafe located on Level 3's Central. So lomantik!!! Dim lightings with old western style deco. Small victorian lamp on each table accompanied with lighted tea candles.Prices for the meals are affordable. At the end of the ordering, the waiter will pass you a big gold-plated 'key' where you are supposed to bring it along to foot the bill. Drinks over at Elephant pubs where we left once we felt the place was swarmped by a large group of old English Ah Puis (/Ah peks).

Sat- Helped the kids to do a foot screening check at a local disabled school. Seen about 10 over kids accompanied by their parents . It has been a wonderful experience which allow me to put my paeds skills into good use. Quite astonished to almost every kid that has been assessed is suffering from some form of foot disorders.

Clawed toes

corns for you Mdm?

Sun: Su, mom and myself met at Zouk for a fleamarket affair. Happening lor, my mom has just stepped into one of the hottest clubs in Sg. Thank goodness it wasn't organised in an open space. My skin is already chao-dah after skating on that particularly morning at ECP.

Happy customer as demonstrated below:-

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Few weekends ago, my dad made me drive all the way to Tuas buying 'cheap seafood and vegetables'. Wah didn't that sort of place so popular with AH pohs Ah peks. I witnessed how the fish was bashed up alive before putting it on a weighing scale. The sight of such cruelty made me lost my appetite on that night's dinner.

We hopeped back into the car and finally arrived at Sungei Buloh. Since my parents didn't want to pay for the entrance, we opt to walk along another trail which is approximately 2km long. Frigging hot that day la. Even Malay maciks kept on asking me like " What happened to my skin" on the next day when I get to work,

Bonous entry: Singaporeans are just plain rude rude rude!

How many times have I got patients walking into my consult room without knocking?
When you tell them it isn't their turn and take a sit , they said I'm the one who is rude.
What's worst, they walked in while my other patient is still in the room.
When they see a new practitioner, they chased after the nurses and said "how come got this new girl in here"

Excuse me, si mi new girl.

Mdm K was late for 1.5 hrs and she blamed it on the bus system. Why must I entertain people during my lunch time?I told my receptionist either she takes new appointment or come in after lunch. Mdm K wasn't happy and even tore up the referral form. Wah!

Thursday, May 10, 2007

Hello Hello

I received , in fact, many calls from the nurses of xx discipline asking for earlier appointment for the patient or if they can send their patients down right at the very moment for me to followup instead of making another appointment.

Nurse: " Hi Miss FF, I understand that you got a lot of patients booked in advanced. Can I just send one patient down for you to see?"

Me: " I'm sorry you can't. There are already quite a number of patients waiting at the area. Maximum waiting time is 2-3 hours. How? "

Nurse:" Oh like that uh. But patient need to be seen urgently so if you can't see her today means she has to call appointment centre and wait for another 2 months is it?"

Me:" Of course. You know that I'm fully booked with patients in advanced. If there's anything more urgent than you think , you can ask your Dr to talk to me instead. Otherwise, I'm not able to hold on the line longer as I've got a patient sitting right infront of me now."

Can't stand talking to people without putting their thinking caps on. Seriously, I'm mounted with patients everyday. It doesn't really make a difference if I see more or less patients from xx discipline. Pay will be the same, the workload is heavy enough, patients are constantly flowing in like running tap water, so why I should prioritise those big shots for their benefits. If the management can't forsee the need to meet the high demand for such services, there is nothing much I can do besides doing what I can.

Sigh, I don't even have the time to get Duofilm paint to zap off the wart on my foot. Knnccb lah!

Everyone wants a piece of me

Dr Dualuokun and Dr Smallloukun of xx discipline want me to set priority to see their patients at anytime because they are doing expensive treatments which need to follow up with me asap. Sounds like an emergency case? That's what they have been telling the patients so patients would in turn tell me about their 'urgency' and maybe hopefully, they can cut queue to be seen earlier than expected.
Those Drs are seriously driving me up to the walls.
Think about this:
Miss Alone is seeing patients from

-medical
-surgical
-Orthopaedic
-vascular
-polyclinic referrals
-private clinic referral
-rehabiliation unit
-A&E referral

On average I'm seeing 20 patients a day with 1/2 hour max consult time per person.
If I've allocated additional 3 patients from xx discipline with 1/2hr max consult time per person, that would also mean certain patients will have approximately 1 1/2 hr lag of waiting time prior seeing me.
Everyone should be treated and given equal opportunity to see any healthcare pracitioner. I don't see any benefit (except for theirs) except with the possibility of getting burnout. In addition, my assistant has no reason to stay back late as she's not entitled any OT pay.

Why are Drs are so like that??

ME vs 5 Drs from xx discipline is quite obvious there is only a limited amount of patients I can see per day.

I'm only a human being leh. knn......

PS cafe

KH brought me to a nice, lovely cafe near Dempsy Road. The place is more accessible by car than public transport itself. After watching the show 'Fracture', I insisted him to take me to somewhere where I've not been before. Poor KH's bachelor life will be kinda short-lived as his gf is coming down from somwhere in a few weeks' time to join him and work in Sg. Heh heh heh.
So many ang mohs here with a huge variety of wine selections......

We ordered a double choc kick-ass cake with tea. Such English teacups they've got there.

Last Fri, J asked me for a small favour to shop with him for a proposal ring -for his gf , of course.

*note to self: Man, I should stop hanging out with the Mr Takens and isn't I'm suppose to hang out with Mr Singles instead?

*eyes roll up*

Spiderman 3 is out today and most of the couples that I know will be watching it later. Are there nothing better else to do for most local couples besides eating and watching movies? Zzz!zzzzzz stuff it!

Deserves no respect from me

Mr Knn came in to have his treatment done. As I start to debride, he pulled back his leg and commented that it was painful. I've explained that he should have been here a month ago and the skin is so thick that I've put a little more force to cut it down.

Out of the blue, he flew his rage at me saying that "if someone use a knife and cut your foot then u tell me u feel the pain or not"

(yeah rigghhht, but aren't we talking about your foot. So much for his concerns)

"Just cut the top part can already lah. Don't dig"

( might as well don't cut in the first place... Looks like I've got myself a foot master here)

*Again, he jumped when I tried to hold his foot in a stabilising position*

ME: Now, I'm doing it slowly and if you feel the pain, just say STOP or else I may cut your foot or myself unnecessarily if you pull your leg away

" If you not happy don't do the job la. It's okay"

Me: *fumes*

Why is it so hard when you try to explain at your best and that person kept on pressing the negative influence on you?

有些人很喜欢打咳睡

I attended a wound care talk recently with special invitation from BBN company. Oh my, there are so many oldies around except for the youngthings like us (pods).
I suppose BBN co had cordially invited mainly the Drs, nurses and foot policemen for this seminar held near the Parliament house.

We chose to sit at the last row of the place. It's amazing to see some of the 'men' in the house opposite us who were dozing off to sleep in front of the speaker. J managed to capture part of the 'dozing segment' on a digi cam. For a moment, all my aussie mates were thinking how rude the locals are doing that. G wanted to take a pic of another guy whose body was leaning to one side and head tilting close to another fella's shoulder. BUT she forgot to off the flash mode when she snapped the pic. That was really attention seeking man...... We couldn't help but giggle among ourselves on and off.
Talking about kiasuism. When the talk was yet to be ended, a couple of the lao ren start to make a move towards the buffet dinner.Gross!

Whatever it is, I had a good time with the mates plus free flow of red wine.

The night on the weekdays

Reading a book, on my little blue reading lamp next to my bedside, listening to class 95PM in my air-conditioned bedroom.

I realised I've yet to adapt to watch TV in the living room just because of the humidity. The fact is I can't even sit in front of the plasma TV for more than 30mins , or else I'll start to perspire.

I don't even have the energy to think about 'pak -toh'. Sounds like a loser eh?

Express weekend recap

"Let's meet 1 pm for rollerblading at East Coast Park lah," suggested by friend who works as a PE teacher.

"Heng-nah Heng-nah," * starting to assume it's gonna be super duper hot weather. True enough, I'm 'or peh' (tanned skin) within minutes of my rollerblading session.

Moving on to my 3rd month of stay in Sg, I do find certain number of local clients of mine are rather entertaining.
On the positive note, they DO make my work more interesting and lively.

Very often, I always get comments or questions like these from my pts:

* Dr uh, can I swim even if I got ulcers on my legs*

* Dr uh, I want to get shoes but I don't want to pay now lah. I'm sure medical social worker will approve my subsidy*

* Dr uh, why you cut the dressing so big? Just cut small small pieces can already*

* Dr uh, why the shoes so ugly? Not so nice to walk when I already got a huge dressing on my foot. Got any other colours?*
Medical-surgical shoes are often supplied for patients with large wound dressing or post operation dressing on their foot. The shoes allows them to self-adjust depending on the size of bandaging on foot.

**note: No matter how much I emphasized to pts I am not a Dr, there is always a tendency that they have forgotten about it. 0_O

************
I've noticed that a lot of FEMALE Drs in the wards are wearing terrible shoes. How on earth can their feet survive walking around in their low/high heels shoes whole day everyday.
Sorry to say to all the high heel lovers. Those shoes will only make your toes to increase the 'gripping' action and thus, hammer toes can start to form in the later stages of life (mainly).
Callus and corns may start to develop on the retracted toes with excessive pressures or ill-fitting shoes. hurhur.
That's probably where my bling will start rolling into my practice next time.
*evil laughs* heh heh heh

Last Saturday, I met up with Shan having big American (yo!) breakky at TCC (don't what it stands for).
As we were walking towards City Hall, there's this Olay roadshow going on. And this strickly thin girl came up and asked if we would like to have a free face massage, free mini makeover and a free photoshoot.
The winner for the photoshot gets to win $1k plus also get a chance to be on Cleo covergirl!
After finishing all the stations, we got home with some freebies from Olay! heh heh heh.

Olay Sensation for Ms Lek

Ready for the olay challenge?

Since Ms Lek has a special deal for hotel stays, Su and myself decided to make use of this fantastic opportunity to stay at Swissotel Stamford. I had one of the best views facing towards Clark Quay and CBD area. Swam at the 8th floor open pool with so many ang mohs around. Had a big breakky buffet varies from western styles to congee.

Justification wanted

Why should a Dr order 3 tubes of Iodosorb ointment (each cost approximately $20.64) on someone with a gangrene foot? Not as if the ointment will debride the eschar (black scab) or 'suck' onto the wound bed or provide a moist wound base.
The sad part is he/she is on subsidy basis during hospitalization. I just can't imagine what would the bills be like upon discharged.
Any health care professionals ought to be more tactful when certain interventions/treatments are issued for low- income patients.
Afterall, who wants to see healthy patients being discharged while having worrying hearts on the huge amount of billings accumulated since hospital admission.

*************************
I haven't get a chance to start a war with any Drs yet.I anticipated it's just a matter of time. But what annoys me at the moment is I'm getting too many referrals from disciplines mainly from orthopaedics, endocrine, surgical, medical to sports medicine.
Can anyone tell me if heel pain is an urgent case or not??? If it's so urgent then your folks to ortho drs and have Z-plasty at the archilles or plantar fascia reconstuctions lah! ( I may be bullshitting on the latter).
The Drs here are like, the higher level they attained , the lower their EQ.
Tsk tsk.

Dan Ku Ku ( in hokkein - means wait very long)

As you can see me being the only sole foot pracitioner in the xxx organisation, I'm working doubly (or rather triply) hard to accomodate all the patients booked in that day. Unlike in polyclinics, there are several drs working together to control the massive crowds of patients.
It is not unusual the patients still have to wait for their turns to be seen despite of long waiting hours.

For the last couple of days, I'm sinking into no-lunch-breaks habit due to overloading of clients that have been booked in much earlier. Patients ended up making noises at the counters and complained why do they have to wait for more than 2 hours for their appointments. *blah blah blah*. Surprisingly, I also do have a couple of patients who really appreciate the services and doesn't mind about the hours of wait. Amazing.

Especially for all the patients, this would my top 10 list -of -things to do while waiting for your Queue number to be flashed on screen:

1) Once you obtain your queue number, check with your receptionist how many more patients prior your turn. Then you can choose to approximate your time to do your stuffs while waiting.

2) Go have breakfast, brunch, or lunch but making sure that you don't end up returning late to the clinic.

3) Bring your own newspaper from Straits time to Lian He Zao bao and Newpaper. If you can afford to bring all 3 , better still as one cannot tell exactly if the appointment is to be seen on time or not.

4) Get an ipod or Mp3 player to kill the boredom

5) Get a few friends to come and play boardgames

6) Internet wireless for surfin online (You tube, entertainment websites etc..)

7) Do your own manicure or pedicure in a toilet cubicle

8) Pacing up and down - I guess that's what most locals enjoy doing .Not bad, maybe can also help to improve the blood circulation by abit

9) Do crossword puzzle or sodoku (?spell)

10) Continue to wait and practise meditation ;p Ouhmmmmmmmmmmm.

Why men in my family won't listen

My pa is a 50yish plump 'old' man who is putting himself at risk of heart disease and diabetes melluitis with his crappy diet.
I've educated him on his diet regime (ya know simple things like, eat with good proportion amount, have meals at regular timing, eat more vegs less meat....etc)
The hardest part is to get his butt up and exercise. I don't know how many times I have said to him that one day, all my earnings will be spent on your multiple disease treatments. From then I will end up being an old hag coz' no timeout for myself. hurhur.
I don't know what else I can do to help. Pa is not a little kid but seems to take health for granted. Sigh*

The other man in my family is my bro who is currently in his early 20s. Execeptionally ignorant and childish I must say. Told him the importance of using sunscreen on his premature winkling but he insisted that it's too thick.
Wah liew, not as if asking him to apply the KAYA on his face what.
Sigh* Don't know la. Maybe ignorance is a bliss.

During one of the meetings, the supervisor brought up the topic on blogging. He emphasized that anyone who blogs in this xx organisation should be done discreetly and ensured that all written contents should not have directed to the organisation itself.
Just because someone in some departments so 'buay zi dong '(inconsiderate), his/her blog was found out by a customer who was astonished to read on how the blog was written in such a factual manner.

I'm thankful for each day that has passed without any rubbish clients. Most of the time, I do think that most Singaporeans seem to be like living in a big box. So secured and comfortable. What's worst, they have been Pampered And Pampered (;p) so much.

Childhood Peng Yew (friend)

I discovered my childhood friend , who is a medical officer, works at the same hospital at me!!Fwah, probably I've not seen her since our last PSLE exam.
HURHUR.

Since I need an antibiotic prescription for a diabetic patient who suffered from ingrown toenail with pus oozing out +++, I knocked on her door and politely greeted Dr Tay.

To sidetrack a little, getting Drs to write an antibiotic prescriptions for my patients can be quite a pain in the a**. Some may do it kindly. Some may want you to suck up. Some even want to charge patients consultations for just the prescriptions.

Me: Hi Dr Tay! Is it ok with you to prescribe some antibiotics for this diabetic patient with ingrown toenail plus pus ++.
I got pic to show you
*pose the ingrown pic on my digicam to her*

Dr Tay: Oh, ok. No allergies uh.

Me: No, he doesn't have any. *wide grin*

Dr Tay: eh you look familar leh. Are you from RG Pri?

Me: uh, you look familar too. But I wasn't sure if you are the person whom I know.

Dr Tay: Your looks still the same. That's why I can recognise you.

Me: *HEEHEE* We'll catch up again soon.

My Sk2 beauty therapy is sure working its way.

Stab HR

I find those people exceptionally deserving zero respect from me. Firstly, they processed my job application only at the very last minute. Never mind.
Secondly, I was informed to start work within weeks after they've announced on my successful employment with the organization. Eh, I'm relocating from one country to another. Not Jurong to Tampines leh. Neber mind.
Thirdly, my name stamp took more than a month to be ready and all those times I've been writing my name in full (which is a requirement on all clinical notes) repeatedly till I'm so fed up. Ok, not only just clinical notes, there are referral forms, charge forms, letters......etc

In addition, the information stated on my namecard were not acknowledged by me prior printing. For instance, let's just say that you are physiotherapist. These are your recognised qualifications from a reputable Australian university listed like this:
B Sc (physiotherapy)
B Sc (human movement and rehabilitation)

Obviously, one would chose to list down the 2 degrees (especially they are relevant in healthcare) on a namecard and I don't see any reason WHY should the HR listed only B Sc (physio).

Personally, I do pay attention on the details printed on the namecards. It does provide me vital information about that particular person in terms of experiences, education and training that he/she has gone through. Then again, isn't that the purpose of the name card??

Grrrrrrrrrrrr....... whatever, I'm looking for an excuse to throw away my namecards.

1 more day to go.......

Nothing much has planned for the B day. So kind of bro to get me a bottle of Hugo's women parfume.

*While I was unpacking my room the other day, I saw this drawing which I took part in a art competition. That was when I was only Primary 2 lor!!!

" A little thought means so much" - is this applicable to most Singaporeans? Probably not anymore.

On the contrary, I had 2 unpleasant experiences when I was queuing up. Firstly I was lining up behind the 2 ladies to use the toilet. Out of nowhere, this middle- aged Auntie rushed up to me and said 'EXCUSE ME'. Cheeb** la. I rolled up my eyes and hope she did see me doing that.

Second incident took place in a M1 mobile shop. Dad and myself were standing behind a family of 3. When it was our turn, this Malay macik (auntie) said the same thing 'EXCUSE ME , we are here first'. What the f***?! Doesn't mean she carry a Fendi bag means she can bully others with status. Frigging rude to the core! The family wasn't queuing up at all in the first place and I can see them was browsing the phones in the showcases instead.

Singapore may be a well-advanced country with its high technology services. It's the PEOPLE. Only if the people would engage in basic courtesy manners and stop taking advantages at other's expenses, it would have been (slightly) much better place to live.

I wish I can yell out to the civil servants. Just because the government pays for your health services doesn't mean you can abuse them and ask for more than what you are entitled to be.

On the road

My mom decided to drive over my auntie's place for a new year visit. I was abit hesistant when mom said she'll be the one driving while worrying about the hazardous condition on the rainy weather.
Since she was waiting to make a right turn after the lorry has went past, she scolded KNNCCB just because the lorry decided to make a 'last minute' turn.
My mom is si beh happening lor.

Do I have to address the doctors by Dr XXX?
VN said if I don't address them by Dr XXX (especially in Asia), the Dr will feel as though they earn the title for nothing. Some even may be upset or becoming 'small gas' (particular) over it. Sigh* So used to call Ds by their first names. Too much glory is given to Drs here already.Hierarchy value is over- emphasized and unfortunately, that's what happen everywhere in Asia.
On the contrary, pts here have been calling me Dr A. Is it because I hold a scalpel and doing debridement look as if I'm a Lo Kun (dr). hurhur. Wasting my time explaining which I'll rather let them call me a Dr then. At least I'll get their respect which will make my treatment plan at a more soothing pace.

I had my 22 yo old looking passport pic on my staff card. The assistant nurse said I looked too virgin (innocent and pure)

Return the innocence

I have no idea with the previous staffs who had worked in same room where I'm at ,doesn't appear to be interested in cleanliness. I've shifted a few furnitures in the clinical room and my assistant nurse commented that it's definitely look much more spacious and bright.
Since the dust on the floor needed to be cleaned, the nurse rang up the housekeeping and asked for a cleaner. While I was busy looking after the outpatients, the nurse rang up again to remind the housekeeping. The most unbelievable thing is the dark-skinned looking cleaner may get a warning letter from the supervisor for being not doing her job promptly.
I mean, is it necessary for the matter to be blow up way out of proportion?

I can't understand which Cb supervisor can be so hard up about cleaning the room 'on the dot' especially when I've got patients in and out of the room. Timing is an essential factor lah.

I feel sorry for the cleaner and the worst case scenerii I can think of is I hope she doesn't lose her job because of this.

You see You see

My dad insisted me to pay for his new nokia phone. Since he has complained that I've yet giving him an ang pow, I agreed to his request. -_-

Sayonara to my bling bling. As I'm a new staff at the workplace, my paycheck will be differ from the rest for the first month.

Sunday
*Will be reserved for my swimming date with Bro. We've decided to keep our latte- skinned intact by keeping fit under the sun at least once in a week.
*Bro dropped me off at the train station. Was dressed in a white tank top and short skirt. Plus my red havanias thongs. Not exactly sure which part of the Singapore mall I want to explore. Rang up Sue and settled to meet up at City Hall.
Wah seh! The market place has changed so so much. More shops than the last time I went? Perhaps.
*Then it's MRT to Orchard and met up with CC. I reckon we've only met up less than 10 times for the years I've studied in Oz while she in the UK. It was a great catch up though.
Thanks for the cuppa treat babe!
*MRT again to Douby Ghaut. Hang around at Plaza Sing till Sab came. Mr Civic came and picked us up to Hark Cafe where Sab's friend was participating in a chinese song singing contest. The place was packed with most of the supporters of various singing competitors. Taught Sab to order a Tequlia sunrise and a bottle of Heneiken for me.

MONDAY
* I still feel very tired after work. I don't know what I'm lacking of in my life. Maybe it's just a transition or adjustment.
*sigh*
Oh someone jio (aksed) me to gym tomorrow -which can be a good thing.

7th day of Lunar New Year

Work has been exceptionally busy till I hardly have any energy left to meet up with friends at knock off times. I need more time to allow myself to get accustomed to the busy (and sedentary) lifestyle for most Singaporeans. I've almost break the record of seeing the most paitents per day to the point that sometimes, I ended up reaching home at 7pm.
what's more, I've still left 2 boxes of nitty gritty stuffs to unpack.

Chinese New Year Day 1

There was an overflow of relatives such that the chairs in my house were inadequate to cater their butts ;p There are quite a few new born nephews and nieces whom I've not met before.
Did I mention my dad has 13 siblings in total?

Chinese New year Day 2

Over and out to Johore to stay overnight at my granny's place. Found out I've got few more newborn nephews and nieces again. Brought some medical tools over and gave my granny a 'pedicure' with her callus debrided on 2nd toe as well. With her thickened nails, there's no way an ordinary clipper will do the job. Cousin D brought us to eat mee soto and prata leh. I like! Cheap and delicious.

My dad got into his menopause moods while we were on the way back from Malaysia. He got so fed up with my bro and I once he found we attempted to home some gums and DVDS.
So bo liao. -_-

***********************

Having to work for two weeks, there are a number of patients trying to give me ang pows. Gosh, it wasn't appropriate for me to accept it but as certain patients can be quite persistent with their givings. Of course, all these ang pows has to be sent and reported to the head in charge.

Suddenly, I craved for a bottle of Heneiken.

Cheena New year

I reckon my mom is going to suffer from anxiety attacks anytime soon on chinese new year preparations. Gosh! wish she can take things abit more relax. I can't think of anything else more to do but buying new year goodies and cleaning the house. This year is no exception that I'll be leaving for M'sia to visit my granny on the 2nd day of Lunar new year.

*Did I mention Barffie msg me on Vday? Really sweet of her ;)

** My dad said my watch was a piece of crap. He wondered what I've been doing with my earnings that I can't even afford a Rolex. Of course la DADDEE, I can buy 2 ROLEX(s) if I don't have to pay for my bro's fees. Grrrr, piss me off sometimes.
Now he wants me to get involved paying up for household utilities bills.

Post Vday

Early in the morning, my darling friend, Orleng, gave me a choc muffin and said "happy Valentine's , babe". The nurse assistant came in and passed me 2 packets of Indian koropok. Isn't it great to feel so loved without having a boyfriend?

Just when I thought I was going home after work, KW smsed me if I'm keen to go on a movie and dinner. Frankly speaking, that is quite unexpected with the reason being he already has a gf. Plus, he explained that they had celebrated Vday at a much earlier date. Okay.....

The most unexpected moment when he gave me a box of Guylian chocs. That's really thoughtful of him.
As I was getting quite tired after movie (yeah it's way too late for Ozzies - i mean semi Ozzie, whatever), I intended to go home till I gave a ring to KH. He 'insisted' that I come over to Bala pub with his friend for a drink. I agreed to drop by provided he gives me a ride home later.
Hehehe, so much for blackmailing. I've had a bottle of beer while 3 of us enjoyed give ratings to the babes around which wade me feel so lesbian for a moment.

I hope most readers did have a wonderful time on V day. Those who got bonked, I'll say good on you, mate.
If you didn't get a chance to do so, don't feel despair. Maybe on the next Vday and you never know. ;)

Getting organised

My bro gave me a lift for work today. Ok, I sorta 'force' him to do that ;p
Went to Human resource collected my staff pass and more papers to be signed. I'm just slowly taking time getting my clinic room to be more organised.Wish I'll have more time putting up the pics but the boxes in the living room must be cleared by the lunar new year.

Both of my parents headed off to JB to collect some fresh seafood from Dad's client early this morning. Since I'm early at the hospital, I get a chance to have a taste of kaya toast for my brekky. Yum yum! Now I'm loving my own little consult room which I 'm able to play my favourite Diana Krall's soundtrack.

****************
I got an email from Mr Irish. I don't know why I've still got a weebit of feelings for him. Maybe it's the respect that I get the most out of him as compared to the guys whom I went out with.
The way he wrote on his email is so plain but simple as usual.

Mr Banker msned me yesterday. Why is it such guys like him must keep talking about the important of (good) sex all the time? I don't get it. Not as if I am keen to fly over and give him a bonk. Feeling abit nauseous as I'm typing this out.
I do detest with certain people who think being a virgin must be superbly holy and traditional. It's a personal perference and one's own belief. People do not have to get so uptight finding girls- who- fastened- their chasity -belts in this era.

****************

I pestered my buddy,KH to come out on Vday to eat cockles with me. hurhur!

*screw v-day...

Beat the blues

Oz will always be my second home. I'm beginning to miss it already! So much stuffs and orientation have been going on for today.
From now onwards, I would need to be more cautious in terms of my writings. APP hospital will not like the idea if someone is blogging about something at the somewhere.
I have thought of shutting down this blog. Then again, I'll see how it goes.
Definitely looking forward the end of the month where my pay gets to roll into my bank account. Each time when I've paid up my bro's uni fees, it's like a cycle that I have to start saving up for the next fees due in 6 month's time.=_=

Home was alright. Dad still nagging on the way I drive like a kid playing Daytona. Mom (sigh) spoiled my Ninewest bag as she left the straps caught onto a cupboard's door. Was telling Shan that the straps looked abit wonky ;(
9 boxes arrived from Sydney few days ago which I'll probably spent the next few weekends arranging or unpacking items.

What's worst, I'm so pms+++ now. *ROAR*

Little voice

As much as I would love to help people with my 'ever' graciousness and generosity, I would not tolerate people who would take my advantage of my kindness. Potraying a black face is all I need(can) to do. There are a lot of lessons to be learnt in life, in fact, endless! I suppose all of us has to go through it in terms of whether ups or downs. I should have been more firm in the first place with him. He should have learnt that it is wrong to use someone's property without that person's permisson. He could be desperate to use it at that moment but still, it's about being moral. He may see it no harm but action does speaks for itself.

Eg, If a patient has paid for a Grade A antibiotics, you 've prescribed Grade B medicine and tell him it's Grade A. No doubt both grades work effectively.

**********

I was quite pissed that I had to pay something upfront depsite the fact he could have paid for his own share. Maybe he didn't hear what the waitress was saying if we are going dutch or paying together. He KNOWS he has to pay for his own coz we stated quite clearly before hand. On the other contrary, I could not help to think that if he's trying to rip me off in every possible ways.
It's not an issue to pay for anyone as long as the person appreciates it. I know I'll have the capability to earn the money back anyway.

Fudge!

The office of fair trading still hasn't returned the housing bond (AUD:$700) to me until I gave them a call again. By right the housing bond should have been retured within 48hours after application's being submitted.wtf that I've been waiting for 2 weeks!First, they screwed up my banking details. Next, they promised to send me a cheque which I'll get to receive on the next 3-5 days. Cb, still see no cheque. On the 3rd call, again they reassured that the cheque will be sent off asap.
*ROaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*
For sure I can make use of that money on my trip back to Singapore.

****************

BG, who is new to Perth, is going to start his medical studies in UWA. He agreed to be my designated driver while showing him new places to go at the same time. As for today, we are going to visit the hair salon together.YAY* I've been waiting for this moment to come. My fringe is literally covering my eyes unless I gave it a scrunch ;p
After haircut, hopefully I can chill out at his place and play a few rounds of pool. Cooky ,which (a Maltese) belongs to his landlord, is such a cute doggie! I wanna kidnap that caramelled fur coat doggie back to Sg !

4 days more to Sg.............so fast!!!!

Angry blog

I can't understand why certain insitutions just make life more difficult for me.
Firstly, it's JJ superannuation fund. I rang them twice and they kept on saying they will send the forms to me which I could roll over my superfunds into another bank.
Cb........still see nowehere of the forms.

Next, I wanted to open a bank account in CC bank. It's a special account that the lady staff explained that she can't give me much info except to read the booklet as provided. Saying what she is not trained to give any info on that particular bank account. Never mind, I brought the booklet back and analyse myself.
Following day, I went back to CC bank again. The dark-looking staff insisted to have my passport as my ID.
Cb lah....I've already produce my driver's licence, medicare card, credit card with photo on it.
Apparently I've still not reach the 100 points id check requirement.
*black face with a pout*

ooooo, gtg to catch a bus to city now...
